Chapter 103

Anita’s POV

The silence in the room after Damian had left the room felt heavier than the blankets on me. Damian’s words still echoed in my ears. ‘He’s afraid of how he feels for you. He doesn’t even realize he’s already started loving you.’

I couldn’t help but steal a glance at Alpha Hades. He stood by the window, his broad shoulders rigid, his fists clenched. He looked like he wanted to say something but didn’t know where to start.

I cleared my throat, forcing an air of nonchalance as I smoothed my hair awkwardly. “My mate's contract hasn’t been terminated yet,” I said, trying to keep my tone light. “Even if… even if I liked someone, I can’t talk about it. I don’t want anyone to think I’ve betrayed my mate.”

Alpha Hades flinched almost imperceptibly at my words, his jaw tightening. He turned to face me, his green eyes locking with mine for a brief moment before he looked away. “Damian…” he began, his voice rough. “He was being silly. Don’t take what he said to heart.”
