Jolie’s POV
I had been scared, no doubt about it. Hearing Paul said he have hundred ways to make an Omega like me die painfully made my heart heavy. But I had to remind myself of what Sibel had told me... that in the pack, everyone was equal. There was no room for fear or submission, not in a world where everyone was supposed to stand on the same ground. Her words echoed in my head as I stood before Paul, trying to still my body.
He was mocking me, as if he knew exactly how weak I felt. But Sibel was right. I couldn’t let fear control me. I couldn’t let him see how much he terrified me.
"What are you doing, Paul?" I demanded, trying to summon every ounce of courage in my voice. "Are you not afraid of the law? Of the Alpha?"
Paul’s lips curled into a sneer, and he laughed, low and condescending. "The law?" he spat. "You think that matters to me? You’re dumber than I thought, Jolie."
