Sibel’s POV

I watched her carefully, I wanted to believe in her, to trust that the woman I had known for so long wouldn’t betray me, not again. But the way her hands shook, the way her eyes darted to Paul and then quickly away...it all told a different story. Something different. Something dangerous.

My chest tightened, but I kept my voice steady, casual even, as if the tension between us didn’t exist. “What about Charles?” I asked, studying her closely. “You’re not looking for him?”

Her eyes widened for a split second, then quickly softened into something that looked like worry, but I wasn’t sure. There was a hesitation, just long enough for me to see the guilt shimmering behind her gaze. She didn’t answer right away, and in that silence, my doubts grew.
