Boarding the Millenium Falcon, Corvus was hit with a wave of nostalgia.
The central area with the couch, the holographic gaming table, the ladders leading to the turrets. It was all so surreal.
Seated on the couch, the senator was reading his book, and looked up in anticipation.
"Ah, you've made it, where to next?" Zar asked.
"Contact your friend, Bail Organa, and notify him that we intend to pay a visit to his residence. For now, Tann, I want you to fly this ship to the Galactic Bank, we're going to make a withdrawal."
"Oh? Are we to make a mess of things like we did at the Inspectorate?" Tann asked with anticipation.
"Perhaps, but this shall be a solo mission. As a Chiss, you are too recognizable, and there are some things only I can accomplish." Corvus stated matter of factly.
"How disappointing. When you recruited me, I did not foresee myself becoming little more than a glorified chauffeur." Tann replied, narrowing her eyes, and letting her dissatisfaction be known throughout the Force.
"If I didn't know better, Tann, I'd say it sounds like you just wanted to spend more time with me." Corvus teased.
"Watch your tongue, Revan. Slaying one of Sidious's pawns was hardly the kind of revenge I had in mind when I escaped captivity."
"Please, you said it yourself, you are no saber monkey, like Ventress. Surely as a brilliant tactical officer of the CIS, you can see the value in a stealth specialist operating on his own?"
"You are competent, that much is clear. However, must you saddle me with this creature." Tann pointed her thumb over her shoulder.
Glancing at Zar, the grey bearded senator stroked his facial hair, then smiled and nodded at Corvus knowingly.
Corvus sighed. This old man really was just sitting there watching their byplay like it was a soap opera.
"Point taken. However, why don't you peruse the Holonet for news on the war, and contact some old friends? I am sure there is much you need to catch up on if you are to conduct a war." Corvus suggested.
"How irritating. Sound logic coming from a Jedi? I wonder about you, who is the man behind the mask?" Tann curled an eyebrow, and took a step into his personal space.
"Wonder on your own time, for now, we must leave the hangar ASAP, before this area is placed on lockdown, and we are unable to escape." Corvus stepped away, and moved towards the cockpit.
Sitting in the co-pilot's seat, Corvus was overwhelmed by the amount of buttons, switches, levers, and other blinking objects.
However, Corvus had an odd feeling whilst he observed the controls in front of him.
It almost was as if he could interact with them.
Like how his body would move on its own when he was at a workbench, disabling mines, or working a computer.
….Corvus put his hands on the controls and willed himself to start the Falcon.
Body moving on its own, he flicked switches, and pressed buttons. Revving the engines all sorts of beeping noises came to life in the cockpit, and displays started to flash.
"I thought you said you didn't know how to fly?" Tann said from the side.
Corvus remained silent, not wanting to say something like 'it was the Force' because a response like that was sure to engender confidence in his actions.
Going through the motions, Corvus willed himself to take off, and the Falcon rose into the air.
As it did so, his POV shifted to a 3rd Person mode, and his view was from behind the ship. In essence, it was like when he was playing Battlefront, or Rogue Squadron, and he was controlling a ship in one of those games.
'Oh kick ass!' Corvus thought to himself, and felt giddy, like a boy who had just learned how to ride a bike, got an awesome lego set as a birthday present, his first phone, computer, etc.
The point was, Corvus was absolutely ecstatic. It was one thing to sit where Chewie did in the movies, and breath in the spaceship, but to pilot it?
It really was a dream come true.
Moving the vehicle out of the hangar, Corvus joined the traffic of the rest of the city.
Flying through Coruscant, due to the 3rd person POV shift, it kinda felt like he was driving around in Grand Theft Auto, except if he crashed here, he would be dead for real.
Whilst he was driving this beast of a machine around the city, he noticed a minimap in the corner of his FOV (field of view), his armaments, as well a gauge for fuel, and shields.
Pausing his menu, he checked his map, and saw an overwhelming amount of information. There were so many locations, and unique places, it was mind boggling!
Searching around his general location for what felt like half an hour, Corvus finally found the Galactic Bank HQ. It was relatively close, only a block away.
Un-Pausing, Corvus gently eased himself into a lane, and after five minutes, spotted a port where many other flying cars and a few medium sized spaceships like the Falcon were parked.
As he landed, a beeping noise, and a flashing light along with an 'incoming message' flashed across his vision.
Willing himself to accept the call, he felt his body flip a switch, and then a robotic voice came through the comms.
~500 credits an hour to park here, government vehicles are granted free parking~
Returning to a 1st person POV, Corvus relinquished his control of the Falcon, and was staring out the window in the cockpit.
Corvus raised an eyebrow at the outrageous fee. That would be like spending $1,000 to visit the HQ of any major bank. The upper class on Coruscant was truly outrageous!
It was also a good thing Corvus had registered the Falcon as a governmental vehicle then. Because it would be crazy to go through all those escapades, and then be caught due to some traffic violation!
Shaking his head in exasperation, Corvus stood up, and saw Tann staring at him fixedly.
"You need something?" Corvus questioned.
"When you said you could not fly, I detected no lie." Tann declared, her crimson eyes remained unblinking.
"That was my first time flying, if you believe me." Corvus said with some mirth as he began to make his way to the exit.
"Again, you tell the truth. What are you really, Revan? Some time traveler? An apparition sent from an alternate dimension? A creature bent on vexing me at every turn?" Tann said, then pulled close to Corvus, and gripped the hem of his robe just as he pressed the button lowering the Falcon's hatch.
"You're one scary woman." Corvus tipped his mask forward in appreciation, then disembarked.
The thing is, she was scary. Tann may have just been saying things, but she was closer to the mark then she knew.
"Flattery will-"
"Get me nowhere, I know. Now keep on smiling, you look pretty when you do." Corvus pointed at her placid face, and took both his index fingers to her cheeks then pushed them up into a facsimile of a smile.
"This entertains you?" Tann folded her arms.
Corvus pulled away, and matched her posture, crossing his arms.
"I killed more people today than I ever have in my life. Honestly, I don't like it, but I'm at war with the most terrifying thing this galaxy has experienced in eons. If I don't make light of life, then I'm afraid I'll end up dying without having made any positive memories."
"Well, it's good to know I count amongst your positive memories." Tann smirked, as if she were an evil duchess being told her expensive riding crop had arrived.
"Not quite the smile I was looking for, but I'll take it. You know Tann, you may be a cold queen, but I think there's more to you than patriotism, the Force, and your love for violence." Corvus said, walking down the ramp.
"Ah, now you are interested in my puzzle. I wonder if you have what it takes to find the key. It shall be most interesting to see who unlocks who first." Tann said, then punched a button, retracting the ramp.
Corvus realized he had gotten more than he had bargained for when he freed Tann, but at least he had an ally in the CIS.
Tann may be a little unstable, vain, and prideful, but honestly speaking, she was already better than 95% of the politicians, and military officials he could have been saddled with instead.
The Separatist Council for example, only had like 3 competent members, and almost every other notable commander was dead, leaving behind nothing but corporate elites to lead the army. Finding Tann was a steal, and one he was eternally grateful for.
…it helped that she was extremely hot too!
Shaking his head at the thought, Corvus put blue booty out of his mind, and focused on what mattered in the here and now.
Standing beneath the shadow of the Falcon, he quick-swapped his outfit into an article of clothing he had taken from the hidden tailor shop, and put on a yokai themed mask.
Emerging into the light, Corvus saw that he was standing below a looming skyscraper. Standing in all its big rectangular glory was the Galactic Bank.
One of the top 10 tallest buildings on Coruscant, the Galactic Bank HQ was oozing with a subtle yet pervasive darkside energy. Really, the entire planet had an edge that was smothered by a sort of neutralness in the Force.
If Corvus had to describe the feeling, it was like walking into a high school locker room. There would always be that one asshole who depressed his axe body spray for too long, ruining the atmosphere for everyone. To Corvus, this is what he meant when he said that there was a dark edge to the Force. Noticeable, but not as pervasive as something like hot sauce poured in your mouth.
Walking up a series of steps, past several giant 5-story statues, Corvus felt small as he entered the front entrance to the bank.
All around him, people and aliens wearing extremely bright clothes, and 60's/70's sci-fi fashion were mingling all about.
It seemed that the upper crust in this time period enjoyed wearing clothes that wouldn't seem out of place in an episode of Star Trek TOS, or the Legends comics.
In short, everyone was dressed in over the top, and extremely bright, flashy clothes.
Glancing around, Corvus saw tons of droid guards, along with armed personnel. However, these didn't worry him, as he had no intention of being caught.
As he didn't have an account, he intended to withdraw the 100 million personally. However, this was only a front to obscure his true intentions.
Approaching a teller, Corvus came face to face with a protocol droid.
"Greetings, lifeform, my designation is LBJ-23, how may I be of assistance?" The droid said in a cheery, upbeat tone.
"I wish to make a withdrawal."
"Certainly! Please fill out this form, and I will be happy to assist you when you are finished!"
Corvus grumbled to himself. Even in a sci-fi universe, he still had to fill out bullshit forms.
Taking a few minutes, Corvus did what was necessary, and handed the document over.
"Oh dear, this amount is too large to handle at the counter. Please wait here while I notify my superior!"
Corvus smirked, pleased that this had developed as he had foreseen.
After waiting a bit, a short, balding middle aged man with a thin mustache, dressed in a fine suit came rushing out of a set of doors, and power walked to him.
"Hello, I am Cirio Cicario, Vice President of Galactic Bank's operations, please come with me to my office so we can discuss this withdrawal." The man smiled genially, and placed an arm on Corvus's shoulder to direct him somewhere.
As soon as they passed through, the sound from the gallery cut off, and they were in a more quiet atmosphere.
"100 million credits is no small amount to withdraw at once! Sorry for the treatment, but it's simply company policy while we verify this order." Cirio spoke like a practiced businessman.
The man kept speaking about various formalities, and all sorts of inane babble, yet Corvus remained silent the entire time.
Finally, they entered a richly decorated office, and the man offered a cup of some alcoholic beverage, yet Corvus declined.
"I want my money." Corvus demanded.
Cirio cringed at Corvus's blunt response.
"Look, Mr…."
"Shredder. You may call me Shredder." Corvus replied, referencing the ninja-like tactics he employed as a Jedi Shadow.
"Right, Mr. Shredder. There's a process, I can't just snap my fingers and will the money into existence. I must personally oversee the withdrawal from the reserve, and speak to many other people. Such a transfer of wealth takes time."
"You saw who the order is from. You will personally retrieve my money." Corvus stressed, and applied a subtle [Mind Trick] at the end.
"Yes, yes, it wouldn't be prudent to go against the government would it? Very well, we shall have your money delivered within an hour. I assume you have a ship waiting at the parking center for transport?"
"I'll tell you once your men have crated it up. I'll be back in an hour, and I had better see those boxes ready to be shipped out. I'll be waiting here for your swift return." Corvus imperiously announced, like some arrogant young man flashing his wealth.
"Yes, I'll get right on it." Cirio thinly smiled, then stood to leave, and wiped some sweat off his forehead.
As soon as the banker left his office, Corvus turned invisible, and followed behind him to the vault.
The heist had just begun!
