Chapter 3

Iris cast a cautious glance my way, her eyes red as she spoke, "Sis, if it bothers you, I can leave at dawn tomorrow..."

Kellan instantly became alert, looking at me with a stern tone, "Scarlett, don't be jealous for no reason."

"Iris is my childhood sweetheart. In my eyes, she's like my little sister."

"She's been mistreated by Draven now, and as her big brother, I can't just sit back and do nothing!"

I looked at his hostile demeanor and suddenly laughed.

I said, "I don't think I've said anything."

Kellan then realized he had been a bit hasty, but still stubbornly insisted, "You didn't say it, but your expression says it all."

So this is what they mean by "If you want to condemn someone, you can always find a excuse."

I turned and left without a word.

Iris asked, "Brother Nash, is your wife upset? Maybe I should go to a hotel instead."

Kellan immediately snapped, "Scarlett! What kind of attitude is this?"

Without turning back, I said, "I'm not feeling well tonight, so I can't help Miss Everhart make up the bed.""With so many maids at home, they should be able to replace my 'work'."

After saying this, I returned to my room and locked the door behind me.

Half an hour later, I heard the sound of the door opening.

Then, Kellan's voice rang out: "Darling, I didn't mean to treat you like a maid."

"It's my fault for not being thoughtful enough and making you angry. I'm sorry."

"I'm really tired now, honey. Please open the door and let me in."

I remained silent, pretending to be asleep, but tears unwillingly soaked my pillow.

At that moment, a scream came from next door, and Kellan quickly ran over.

Soon after, I felt movement at the head of the bed. At first, I thought it was an earthquake, until I heard Iris's uncontrollable cries and realized what they were doing.

I grabbed my phone and went to the balcony. Since there was only a railing between the two rooms, I quickly climbed over.

Through the gap in the curtains, I saw two bodies entwined together.

I felt utterly disgusted.

Iris kept saying Draven mistreated her, but here she was, eagerly climbing into another woman's husband's bed?

These two men and one woman - not a single decent person among them!

Fighting back my nausea, I recorded a video, then quietly returned to my room. When I laid down in bed, I suddenly realized that I had only felt disgust since earlier, not sadness.

So this is what it feels like when your heart dies.

The commotion next door continued until dawn.

A sleepless night.

The next morning, as soon as I went downstairs, I saw Melody crying.

Iris seemed to be comforting her, but her hand was actually pinching Melody's arm.

I immediately rushed over in anger, yanked her away, and picked Melody up.

Just then, Kellan came charging down the stairs shouting, "What are you doing?"

As he spoke, he hurried over to help Iris up.

Iris looked utterly wronged as she said innocently, "It's okay, Nash."

"Melody kept crying. Your wife must have been too anxious and thought I was bullying Melody, so she pushed me away in the heat of the moment."

Kellan said coldly, "Don't make excuses for her! She's just jealous. It's because I brought you back last night, so she wanted to bully you."

He then looked at me in disappointment and said, "Scarlett, how come I never noticed before how vicious you are?"

"As a fellow woman, Iris was mistreated by her husband. You should be more concerned about her!"Iris feigned magnanimity and said, "Big brother Nash, don't be so fierce. Sister-in-law just can't control herself, that's all."

"I know, sister-in-law has always been blaming me. After all, back then Draven abandoned her to those men in order to save me..."

"She was tortured by so many men, yet she gained your favor. Naturally, she's insecure. You should understand her."

Kellan scoffed disdainfully, "She was abused by those men because she's stupid. Of all people to love, she had to fall for that black-hearted Draven!"

"If she truly hates someone, she should hate Draven! Why take it out on you!"

I felt my blood run cold, only my face burning hot.

I never imagined that one day, Kellan would publicly disparage me like this.

He even blamed all the nightmares I had endured on me!

Yet there was a time when if anyone so much as breathed half a word about that incident in front of me, he would beat them to a pulp.

I looked at the Kellan before me. Though he was still as handsome and tall as ever, it was as if I was looking at a demon.
