Later on the next day..
Jaceon sat across from Levi, watching as he absentmindedly flipped through the documents on his desk. The meeting had been scheduled weeks ago, and Levi was determined to get through it without any complications. But the moment Mr. Shane walked into the room, Jaceon's senses flared.
He smelled it immediately—the scent of something unnatural lurking beneath the surface. The way Shane carried himself, the controlled yet predatory gaze that flickered toward Levi—it was all too familiar to Jaceon.
"Argh, jeez... these creatures. Why the hell should it be my prey?" Jaceon muttered under his breath, his piercing stare fixed on Shane like a predator eyeing its meal.
Shane, pretending not to notice Jaceon's dead stare, cleared his throat and smiled politely. "Mr. Levi, who is that?" he asked, nodding toward Jaceon.
Levi barely glanced up. "Oh, Mr. Shane, that's Jaceon Devon, my secretary. He handles most of my scheduling and logistics."
Shane's expression didn't waver, but Jaceon saw the flicker of recognition in his eyes. He knew what Jaceon was. But that didn't matter—because Jaceon had already decided the werewolf wouldn't leave this meeting alive.
The air grew heavier as Jaceon's gaze darkened. The way Shane looked at Levi made his blood boil. He was possessive, territorial—Levi was his prey. No one else's.
Jaceon leaned forward slightly, his voice calm yet laced with warning. "Mr. Shane, can we talk for a minute?"
Shane raised a brow but nodded. "Sure."
He led the way to a private chamber down the hall. The moment the door shut, Jaceon wasted no time. "If you know what's best for you, leave now before I lose my temper."
Shane scoffed. "And who are you to tell me that?"
Jaceon smiled , his eyes flashing with something dark and ancient. "Somebody who can end you with a snap of a finger. I hate being interrogated… you wolf."
At that, Shane's demeanor changed. His fake politeness melted away, replaced by something more primal. "And who are you? A vampire?"
Jaceon's smirk widened. "Never compare me to those tiny creatures. Listen carefully—leave before I lose my temper."
Shane clenched his jaw, his pride keeping him from backing down. "Not until you tell me why."
Jaceon sighed. "Okay, so be it."
With a snap of his fingers, Shane vanished, sucked into the abyss with no chance of return. Jaceon smoothed down his suit and smiled to himself. "Now that's why you shouldn't interrogate me."
Moments later, he walked back into the office, his face neutral. Levi barely looked up. "Where's Mr. Shane?"
Jaceon adjusted his tie. "Mr. Shane had to leave."
Levi sighed. "Figures. Another waste of time."
Jaceon chuckled to himself. If only Levi knew just how much time he had saved him.

That night, Jaceon stood atop his usual rooftop, staring at the city below. The lights, the people, the chaos—it all seemed insignificant compared to what he was planning. The McLaren family was still on his list, and he would enjoy watching them crumble. But tonight? Tonight had been entertaining.
"One more obstacle out of the way," he mused, the wind whipping through his hair. "And Levi... you're next."
A slow, dark grin spread across his lips as he disappeared into the shadows.
