Endless Regret Part 2

The person who entered their home was a tall man. His face was chiseled like a masterpiece, and his eyes radiated tenderness and care. He was the perfect image of a flower boy.

As he walked toward them, Liu Fei Fei's eyes glimmered with delight. But for Lu Chen, it was the opposite. His eyes narrowed into a vicious glare.

"Why are you here, Long Shen?!" Lu Chen snarled.

He knew exactly who he was. The two had attended the same school. But more than that, Long Shen was Liu Fei Fei's ex-boyfriend.

Smirking, Long Shen sneered, "Why am I here? For my wife, of course."

Without sparing Lu Chen another glance, he brushed past him and walked toward Liu Fei Fei, pulling her into a tender embrace.

"I'm here now, my Fei'er," he whispered softly into her ear before pressing his lips against hers.

Liu Fei Fei didn't resist the kiss. Instead, she wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening it with intimate fervor.

The sight left Lu Chen frozen in place. His chest tightened in agony, his vision blurred with rage and disbelief. Unable to contain it, he roared,

"LONG SHEN, GET AWAY FROM MY WIFE!"

But as the two parted, Long Shen simply turned to him and laughed. It was the mocking laughter of a man watching a clown at a circus.

"Haha… your wife? When has Liu Fei Fei ever been your wife?"

"…"

Lu Chen's eyes widened. He had married Liu Fei Fei. On paper, she was his wife. But did he ever truly have her heart? The scene before him—the passionate embrace, the kiss—was answer enough.

Seeing Lu Chen's speechlessness, Long Shen continued with a cruel smirk,

"The only reason you were able to marry my Fei'er was because you threatened to kill yourself. She married you out of family obligations… and pity. Nothing more. Nothing less."

"…"

Lu Chen's breath hitched. He didn't want to believe it. He clung to a sliver of hope—that Liu Fei Fei had married him for love, even if just a little. But Long Shen's words mercilessly crushed that hope.

Long Shen stared into Lu Chen's eyes, enjoying the devastation he had inflicted.

"Lu Chen, didn't you once say you would give Liu Fei Fei the endless happiness she deserved?" he taunted. "Well, I'll show you what true happiness looks like."

Lu Chen's eyes flickered with confusion and desperation. His entire life, he had only ever wanted to make Liu Fei Fei happy.

Long Shen's smile widened cruelly.

"She can only be happy by my side."

He said it just to watch Lu Chen shatter.

"No... No!" Lu Chen's mind finally broke.

Long Shen leaned closer, his voice low and venomous,

"I took your company. Your wealth. But there was one thing I wanted most: my Fei'er."

His words made Liu Fei Fei blush. She lowered her eyes, her cheeks tinged with warmth, as if moved by his declaration.

Lu Chen's body trembled. The last fragments of his spirit splintered.

Everything was gone.

His company. His fortune. His pride. All of it lost. And why?

Because of his blind obsession with the woman who had never loved him.

Long Shen released Liu Fei Fei from his embrace and slowly pulled out a gun. With deliberate steps, he approached Lu Chen, who was barely able to remain upright.

"You were nothing but a frog trying to eat swan meat," Long Shen spat. "Go repent in the afterlife."

As he pressed the cold barrel against Lu Chen's temple, he leaned in and whispered cruelly into his ear,

"And by the way… even if you were married, I was the one who took her first time. You will always be nothing but second place."

And with those final words of mockery, Long Shen pulled the trigger.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The bullets tore through Lu Chen's body.

Blood splattered across the floor, painting it in crimson. Each shot widened the wounds, blood gushing out in heavy torrents.

Lu Chen's body slumped, his vision blurring. His consciousness flickered in and out as his life slipped away.

His gaze, clouded with pain and sorrow, turned toward Liu Fei Fei.

Just once. Please, just once.

In his final moments, he longed for a sliver of warmth from the woman he had loved with all his being. A fleeting hope that she might offer him a final glance of pity.

But instead, she turned away from him.

She embraced Long Shen once more, disregarding Lu Chen as if he were nothing more than a stain on the floor.

His broken heart clenched.

It's all my fault.

As his consciousness faded, Lu Chen's mind was flooded with memories of regret.

His coldness toward his parents.

His arrogance toward those who had once cared for him.

His blindness to the people who genuinely loved him.

They were all gone.

His company, his fortune, his family.

All of it.

And in the end, all he was left with was a wife who had never once loved him.

Endless regret consumed him as his mind faded into the darkness.
