Chapter 4

The dragon had waited for many hours for Matheus to come back with a body for a few hours now, for killing one of the powerful canine Anthros was far from a simple task, their power far more prominent than the reptilian species, the Canine species haven taken their land, slowly throughout the many years, taking it to use for their own good, not giving any mind to how it pushed back all of the reptilians, having them less and less room to do much of anything, the awful swamplands they had to deal with offering an awful living space.

The dragon had been practicing the dark magic for months now, not wanting to mess with magic so deadly but seeing no other choice; it was either to let the canine Anthros continue their theft of the reptilian land or fight them, knowing they would never listen to those weaker and more vulnerable as them.

There was a sudden thud sounding from outside the cave that the dragon had been forced to call home, not having many other options other than the dimly lit and damp space which was the cave.

A smile came to his face as he saw Matheus, the thin and dark green alligator lugging a thick sack behind him, one that was noticeably shaped like one of the dreaded canine Anthros.

Matheus gave his boss a thin smile before letting go of the sack, panting heavily having brought the body to his master.

"Thank you, Matheus, I always knew I could confide trust in you to bring me back what I ask for." The dragon said, barely holding back his raging excitement for a body to finally be able to test his magic on.

Matheus looked pleased to see his master for once satisfied with what he had done. "Of course master." He replied meekly. "Anything to bring hope for us reptilians."

The dragon nodded, master was all Matheus had ever called him, a way for the dragon to hide the fact that he was never really given a true name. Both his parents had died so soon after he'd been bored, then being some of the first rebels who had tried to bring justice to the reptilians; them and their comrades in the mission having been brutally eliminated by the Canine army, killing them and having their bodies burned, a reminder to all the reptilians that they were supposed to stay weak, never to try to oppose the Canines.

Matheus stood to the side as dragon prepared the body, pulling it out of the sack. It was absolutely ruined, Matheus clearly having quite a hard time killing the fox, a knife wound messily cut in jagged lines across the fox's chest, exposing the bones protruding from its body, the ribs not even white from the dried blood coati f the majority of the corpse.

"Couldn't have killed this one a bit more cleanly?" The dragon muttered, knowing this would already make the spell he would preform a great deal more difficult.

"I'm sorry master." Matheus said softly, looking down at his feet, cheeks red in embarrassment.

The dragon shook it off, readying the new and foreign magic that he tried to summon from within him, the magic feeling awkward and quite a bit painful, having only recently injected the liquidized black kryptynion into his blood stream, something that had been known to be such an unstable and dangerous magic to put into one's body.

He felt a shudder rule up his spine as the magic was summoned, bolts of pain shooting through him as he readied the powerful magic at his fingertips, his clawed hands glowing an emerald color that radiated powerfully. The magic was quickly directed into the corpse of the fox, the dragon clenching his teeth as such a great quantity of the magic was poured into the fox's body through the deep stab wound in its abdomen, the magic coursing through the corpse of the fox, making its body glow just as emerald as the dragons claws.

A grin of utter accomplishment formed on the dragons face, revealing his thick and sharp jaws as the body of the fox began to stand up on its own, movements unnatural and jerky as the corpse brought itself to a standing position, the movements causing more blood to drip from its open wound.

Matheus's eyes were wide in awe as the foxes eyes opened, now a deep shade of green, staring into the distance as the eyes remained dry and unblinking.

"I can't believe it, the kryptynion worked!" Matheus shouted, a hopeful expression forming, the smile making the alligator looking happy like the dragon had never seen before, Which only made the dragons own smile to widen.

This was exactly what the reptilians had needed, a powerful force such as the magic that was being pumped through the dragons' veins, to fight the canine species for what they surely didn't deserve. And the dragon didn't care how much it would hurt him, how torturous the content use of the dangerous magic would be for himself. He finally had a chance to save the reptilians, and he wasn't afraid to play with even the deadliest magic to do it.
