Chapter 63: The Great Heist of Information
Pragya stared at the holographic map projected in front of him. The heavily guarded government data center was like a digital fortress, storing classified information that could expose the system's deepest secrets. If he could hack into it, he would gain access to a treasure trove of truth—one that could shake the entire country. But, of course, breaking in wasn't going to be easy.
"Stealth mission?" Aadi grinned, cracking his knuckles. "Or full-on action movie explosion?"
"Stealth, obviously," Pragya muttered.
Aadi sighed dramatically. "Why do you always choose the boring route? Just once, I'd like to hack a place and leave with fireworks in the background, slow motion and all."
Ignoring him, Pragya activated his Chip of Earth Consciousness, connecting to the digital grid. The city hummed in his mind, every network and surveillance camera forming a web of real-time data. He could see it all—patrolling guards, laser defenses, and security drones buzzing like angry wasps.
The data center was a beast, but Pragya had cracked tougher codes before. "We go in through the air vents," he decided. "Minimal contact, maximum efficiency."
Aadi groaned. "Why is it always air vents? Do criminals and hackers have some unspoken agreement with ventilation companies?"
Pragya smirked. "Maybe. Now shut up and crawl."
Breaking In
Sneaking inside was almost too easy—until Aadi's stomach betrayed them.
As they shuffled through the vents, a loud growl echoed through the metal shafts.
Pragya shot him a deadly glare. "Did you seriously not eat before this mission?"
"I was busy preparing!" Aadi whispered defensively. "Besides, you never feed me. What kind of villain-in-the-making starves his sidekick?"
Before Pragya could respond, a security guard below heard the noise.
"Did you hear that?"
"Probably a rat," another guard mumbled.
"A rat that sounds like it's dying of hunger?"
Aadi gasped softly. "Wow. Even the guards can sense my pain."
Pragya rolled his eyes, quickly using his chip to disable the security cameras. "Move faster before we get caught, you idiot."
The Vault of Truth
After bypassing biometric locks and AI security, they finally reached the main server room. The sight was breathtaking—rows of glowing data towers, humming with secrets. This was the heart of the government's corruption.
Pragya plugged into the system, his mind syncing with the database. Information flooded in—classified documents, hidden transactions, manipulated news reports, and evidence of government-controlled media brainwashing citizens.
And then, something unexpected.
A file titled "Project Omega: The Ultimate AI" appeared.
Pragya's eyes widened. This wasn't just corruption—this was something bigger. The government wasn't just suppressing truth; they were creating an AI capable of controlling people's very thoughts.
Aadi peered over his shoulder. "I don't like the sound of that. Anything with 'Omega' in its name is never good news. Why can't they name evil projects something harmless, like 'Project Cuddles'?"
Pragya ignored him, quickly downloading the files. Just as the transfer completed, alarms blared.
"Intrusion detected. Lockdown initiated."
"Uh-oh," Aadi muttered. "Time to run?"
Pragya smirked. "Time to run."
The Escape
They dashed through the corridors, dodging security drones firing stun blasts. Pragya used his chip to temporarily disable the doors, giving them a head start. But guards were closing in fast.
Aadi panted. "This… is why… I hate stealth missions!"
They reached the rooftop, where their getaway drone was waiting. As Pragya activated it, a bullet whizzed past his ear. He turned to see a masked soldier aiming at them.
"You really thought you could get away that easily?" the soldier growled.
Aadi held up his hands. "We were actually hoping, yes."
Pragya didn't hesitate. Using his chip, he hacked the soldier's smart rifle, causing it to misfire. In the confusion, he and Aadi leaped onto the drone, soaring into the night sky just as explosions erupted behind them.
Aadi whooped. "Okay, I take it back. This was an action movie moment!"
Pragya chuckled, glancing at the stolen files. The world was about to learn the truth. And with Project Omega now in play, their fight had just begun.
