Chapter Fifty Two

Ria came dancing into my room. It wasn't strange, she danced a lot whenever she was happy. I only knew something was up and I could not wait for her to spill it.

"Aww...so what is it this time?"I yawned, stressed from school work. She packed up the books in front of me and sat on the desk.

"I have good news and bad news."She said smiling, she didn't look like she carried bad news at all. "Which one should I spill out first?"

"Good news for sure"

She giggled playfully. "I have a date tonight!"

Oh finally!

"Wow, good for you babe..." She embraced me before I was able to complete my sentence.

Too excited. Hmm...

"You like the guy this much?"

"Actually, I've been crushing on him since forever. He's part of my band. The school band. Just as young and vibrant as Henry..."

Why did she bring that up?!

"He wasn't here that on your birthday. I was too shy to invite him."

Shy?! Ria has never been shy!

"You were shy. Oh, I'm surprised."

"You never know with love, baby."She placed her middle finger on my lips.

"So, how did he invite you?"

"That should be a story for another day. You know, I'm shy of you sometimes"

"Why?"

She held up my chin. "You make me feel like a guy sometimes. That lip, I've always dreamt of having here in my mouth."

"Can you even hear yourself?"

"It's the truth. After what you said last week, I thought of getting a boyfriend. Cause I was going to go crazy watching you and trying not to touch you."

I was shocked. I didn't know what to say. I stared at her eyes. Her eyes, the first I've stared long into, those happy blue eyes. She isn't a lesbian, is she?

"Have you..."I swallowed. "Made out with a girl before?"

"No. No."She giggled, dropping my aching chin. "I'm not a lesbian. That feeling just came. I guess it's because I've been single for too long. You weren't uncomfortable with me touching you, or were you?"

"I don't know,"I murmured. "I mean, we sing in a church. God does not accept that."

"I swear, I'll date a guy. He's my spec. You're just this hot stuff I look up to."

"Got it."I wanted to close that chapter and pretend as if she had never told me.

"Ehm, so, before I say the bad news, I need a favor from you."

"Shoot."I smiled.

"I've always tried to..."She swallowed. "Actually, it's just for an experiment. I really would like to know what kissing a girl tastes like. And..."

"That's not going to happen."I snapped. How gross?!

"But I love you, Paige. Just this one and we'll forget about it. It's just a kiss. I'm getting a boyfriend tonight."

"Please..."

She bent down, her lips against my cheek, brushing it lightly—and still that light touch sent shivers through my nerves, this isn't good. Paige!

That seemed like calling myself out of an abyss.

"I really would not like to hurt you but this one request. If you want me to stop, tell me now," she whispered. When I still said nothing, she brushed her mouth against the hollow of my temple. "Or now."

She traced the line of my cheekbone. Our eyes locked. I was so lost.

 "Or now?"

Her lips were against mine.

"Or—"

When she finally kisses my mouth, everything goes oddly quiet, like the moment of silence between lightning and thunder. One breathe. Two breathe. Three breathe. Four breathe.

Bang.

I never thought a kiss could be like this. I've always been forced. It has always been horrible from my dad. I never kissed Damien.

We kiss again. The next kiss is the kind that breaks open the sky. It steals my breath and gives it back. It shows me that every other kiss I've had in my life has been wrong.

But this is all wrong. I had to stop. I withdrew myself from her. She stopped immediately with a smile.

"Thanks for stopping me."

Wierd.

"You enjoyed it, right?" She held my waist to her body. She was shorter so I could see the top of her head. How awkward? I remembered how much she liked to touch me. How much she loved to sleep on my bed. How she loved to wake me up from sleep. Ria!

I won't do this again, it's an abomination and I have to make her understand that.

"It was..."I gasped. "Good. You took my breath."

"I was in heaven, Paige. You're the best!"

"We're not doing this again. I only helped a friend in need. Understood?"

"Well,"She giggled. "I will never make out with a girl. That would be an abomination. But a kiss wouldn't be bad, would it?"

"It would. We never know what it will grow into. You're a sister to me , Ria."

"Don't worry, I'm really not a lesbian. I just fulfilled my fantasies about you."

We were talking about something really inappropriate, comfortably. Wow!

"Maybe when you get a boyfriend too. I'll take my eyes off you."

"What's the bad news?"

"Oh..."She pulled me back to my seat, then sat at the desk, like nothing happened. "Well, I'm working on this project. You know, final year and projects. I have an interview with the CEO of The Chicanery group..."

Chicanery?! That's definitely my dad.

"It's the biggest tech company in this country and we were asked to write a report. I sent him a letter some time ago and he fixed it tonight. Will you help please?"

I was so short of words. I can't interview Jude Kam.

"What's the name of this man, the CEO?"

"Jude Kam, who doesn't know the CEO who refused to get a wife after losing his wife."

"Yeah who doesn't!"I jeered. "Do you know that man is my uncle? The one that bought this house?"

"Oh my!"She shrieked. "Paige Kam! Really, I just guessed that you might just have the same surname but not related. I mean, that happens. You're that Paige Kam, his only niece!"

"You're shouting."

"Sorry, I could not help it."She calmed her so down. "I can't imagine. I don't know what to say. Maybe it isn't bad news. It wouldn't be bad to help me interview him, right?"

I was quiet.

"I'll give you the questions. All you need to do is represent me. Please, Paige," she pleaded.

"Not a big deal,"I said. "I will."

She brought her face near to mine in an attempt to kiss me. I held her back. "No more kisses."

"That's not possible. Let's just wait and see."She winked.

"Thank you love!"She bounced out of my room.
