Chapter 66

A excruciating pain hit my forehead as I rolled back and forth on my bed. I've been like this all night, dreams of faces hunt my sleep. The room felt more stuffy and incubating than it'd ever been before and I had to give up on sleep. I washed my face, put on my coat and walked out. At least to get a little bit of fresh air since my room have been invaded by some beings threatening to take my peac. I took a seat at the garden, the moolight being the only source of light for me to see. Cold breeze slammed on my face. Just when I was starting to feel my headache disappear, someone joined me on my seat. I was shocked at first because I never noticed someone was coming but the person—it was easy to discern who it was. I knew it but uis smell, it was Julian. He wrapped his hands around my houlder and rested on it. My headache literally melted away.

" What are you doing out here this late? " I asked him avoiding to be asked the same question first.

" I should be asking you that. " he retorted.

We were silent for a while before I finally spoke and that surprising played a rhythm in my head. Don't mind me, hehehe!

" Just a bad night. What about you? "

"Same" he muttered. He felt so comfortable on my shoulder and I felt like a mother—thats how it looked like. Then we remembered where we were—the garden. It's a public place and we are too close. I've got to avoid controversies of any sort.

I looked around —searching if there was anyone watching. " Don't you think we're too close? I mean...this place..." I tried off.

" C'mon Commander, don't destroy the moment." he said. I withdrew myself and move away from him.

" You should not hold your Commander like that!" I spat. He laughed and I joined in. His laughter was infectious—cause I rarely laugh.

When our laughter died down, I said. " we're getting new legions tomorrow. It'd be quite a journey."

" I wish it was an eternity." Julian said.

That got me thinking. " why?" I questioned.

" Never mind Commander."

I bit my lips, the reasons behind his words hitting me like...

" how long does it normally take to get new members to the legion?" I asked. " I mean in a normal situation."

"Three or Four days."

" Hm." I smiled. " no wonder your king didn't think too much."

He just nodded. I didn't want to be quiet, our silence— it feels awkward to me.

" The white coven finally got their shield, now they ask for war huh?"

" Yeah." he winced.

" Why did they do that? They should have at least..."

"shsh..." Julian placed his finger on my lips and brought my face to his. " Please, talk about something else aside work okay?"

His breathe teased around my face. I pulled away harshly realizing too late what he wanted to do. I pursed my lip, a bit glad that the darknes would conceal how far I've blushed.

" Fine but we are in public. I only came to get fresh air not for a date."

" Oh really" he grinned.

" yeah..." A figure moved towards our direction. It was pok a very long time before I could discern who it was—Kabal. But what is he doing out this late? Seem like everyone's experiencing that bad night . He curtsied in front of the both of us.

" Good day, Milord, Sire. " he said.

" Kabal, what are you doing out this late? " I wanted to ask how he entered the castle but remembered his mother was a maid who lived in the castle.

" I needed to see you Sire. " he bowed. " in private "

Julian arched a brow and I winked at him. He left the seat to another at the end of the garden.

" How did you know I was here? "

" My mother, she saw you come here. I'm sorry Sire. I know it's not a good time but it's the only time before can see you. "

" Sit down Kabal, it's okay. "

" I beg to stand Sire." he pleaded and I had no choice but to nod. " I heard toud be leaving tomorrow to be back infour days time. I have a question that I've been wanting to ask Sire. "

" Go on, I'm listening man" I smiled.

He smiled back, that feeling of being called a man at that tender age. I've explained to him times without number that every warrior is a man. He's because a man of valor for taking it upon himself to defend his territory no matter what it may cause.

" it's about the war Sire. What happened when you got injured? I... It's... You came out to f yourself and... I doubt if that is magic. I saw a face... Please explain to me. "

I was awed. I knew that had to explain, however.

" I remember we once had a deal right? "

He thought for a while. " I swear to you Sire. I told no one of this. I was just... Curious. I apologize if it's... "

" No, no it's not anything. I'll explain to you. " I said. "its magic and it's not. It's whatever you may call it. I never got injured. That all I want you to know for now. I didn't get injured. I'll explain that... Another day. Not tonight. "

" Okay Sire" he smiled. " I'll be saying be goodbye tonight Sire. "

He curtsied and left.

Moment later, Julian joined me back on the seat.

" What was that about?" he asked.

" Just a gist with my subject. " I smiled. 'my subject' sounds wierd even to my ears. He was still staring at me. " I won't tell you more. Stop staring at me like that. "

Then I remembered my question, the one I reserved for a better time.

" Julian, have you ever attended a church? I mean... Your life on earth. "

" Yes I did. I named myself Joel. " He seemed proud of his actions. Wow!

" And you believe that God exist? "

" Yeah. " he smiled. " though I believe in other gods too. "

That startled me. " Really? What kind of god again? "

" I've got one more god I'm gonna serve my whole life. "

Huh... Interesting. " And who's that god?"

He faced me, a wide grin on his face. " She is... Katrienair Mitchell. "

Oops! It's the first time he's ever called my full name.

I blushed hard—felt like I was going to cry.

" I'm going back to bed. " I hissed and left
