Chapter 73

Raleigh decided to explore his new discovery. The last time, he had seen katrienair and Julian stop at the sacred house. Since then, he had believed that there was something hidden there he's going to unravel while they're gone.

That morning, Alistair and Emiliar were making breakfast in the kitchen when they heard the sound of a horse hoof. They were shocked to their bones.

"Is katty back?"Emiliar asked in shock."so soon?"

Alistair peeped through the window in the kitchen. "It's a man. Not katrienair. Come see for yourself."

Emiliar gasped. "It's dark. His aura. He's a demon. We're toast!"

"We're not toast. He can't enter."Alistair assured her.

"It's big risk Alistair. No one must know that you're here. They'll try all ways to get in." Emiliar said. That sent shivers down Alistair's spine. Images of how she was tortured in the past flicked through her mind. She knelt by the window and prayed silently.

Emiliar knelt by her side. "I know that man. How could he have known? He's Raleigh. He lives in the castle, the king's cousin."

She thought for a while.

"No, he might be on a tour or something. I'm sure he doesn't know we're here. Or does he?"She was speaking to herself.

"Oh gush!"She bit her lip. "Why do I have a bad feeling?"

Alistair got up and put off the cooker. The only way he can guess that people live in the house is the chimney. "he can't get in Emiliar. Calm down, you worry too much."

"You lived here once yeah?"Emiliar asked.

"Obviously, it's our hiding place."

"But you still got caged?"

Alistair's face fell. "They got in. I don't know how but they did."

Emiliar shivered. "They can get in!"

Raleigh happily took a step forward towards the door. With dignity and hope that he'll find the thing, the secret that the two sneaky soldiers might be hiding here. He felt slowed down by some forces but he was so determined that he didn't stop. As he placed his hand on the door knob, it burnt. He retracted it immediately. Suddenly, a bird, a vulture flew over his head and plucked out his left eye. He shrieked in pain and went back to his horse. There's something, something about this place. He cursed the building inwardly. He'll destroy the structure the moment he achieves his end goal.

"I can see blood 'listair!"Emiliar shrieked. "But he's gone!"

Alistair stood up happiyand put the cooker back on. "I told you he can't get in. You fear too much Emiliar."

"it's not my fault. Besides, I was just being real." She paused. "Wait, are you sure that prodigal son will not bring more people? I..."

"He won't dare."Alistair cut her short. "I'm sure he has lost something today. He can't afford to lose another."

The room fell silent. Emiliar blamed herself for always being scared. She wished she could change. She also remembered she was never like this while on earth. She always felt unbeatable, so why now? She knows one reason but would not like to admit. She still feels she is mortal. This whole underworld life, it's still very new to her. Mostly due to the fact that she's been caged one way or the other while in it.

"You amaze me sometimes Alistair. You're so experienced that you seem to know all. I wish that someday, I become like you."She broke the silence. "But sometimes, your silence should be questioned. Alistair, I have a question I've been meaning to ask you."

Alistair smiled. "Go on. I'm all...ears."

"It's about... Katrienair and Julian."She pursed her lips. " You seem to know about them. They're crazy in love with each other. Just in case you don't know. Julian is a demon, the heir, and Katrienair, the chosen one. It amuses that you haven't mentioned it. Don't you think history is about to repeat itself?"

Alistair thought for a while. "I've been thinking of this too and..." She snorted. "It's hard to think you know all and can figure out all things. I get stressed up when I think of the two of them."

She paused to think. "The future has always been a blurry image. I don't know how to view this. Really."

"You should warn Katrienair at least."Emiliar suggested. "You know better. Your parents--you saw all that happened and she is your sister."

"I can't warn my sister"Alistair winced. "You tried, didn't you? It'll be a waste. She won't listen anyway."

"She will listen to you."It like the surest thing Emiliar has said that morning. She knew deep down that Katrienair has a soft spot for her sister.

"She'd listen to me about other things. But they are crazy in love!"She emphasized on her words and gave a slight chuckle after speaking. "Like you said. Look Emily, I am more concerned trust me. It was hard to believe that my sister is getting along with a demon. Despite all that the demons had done to our race, our family especially, my mother. I loved my parent so much. I had a perfect life..."She paused.

" And you know the worst? It's the son of that bastard, Roger, that devil. My dearest sister is in love with his son and I'm left with no choice. I'll have to forgive the demons...for her sake. We should... Let fate do its thing."

Emiliar was stunned. "What?!" She gasped. How could she just let it go...just like that. "What about the rules? What about the consequences?"

"I'm sure Katrienair knows the rules and I believe she can handle all these herself. All she needs is our support."

Emiliar momentimarily went dumb. What the hell?! She never anticipated this.

Indeed, Katrienair has the best sister in the world.

You'll forgive the same demons who burned you day and night in a caged, who killed your spirit every hour, who hung your head on a downward cross, who tried to clear out your race, who threw you into a lake of fire, who ruined your once perfect life. You'll forgive the same demon who killed your parent, who destroyed all you've ever lived for, all for the sake of your sister.

Who does that?!
