"Who's Luna?" Jameal asked. The tension in the atmosphere was just too much and he felt lost.
"Her wolf."Azazel replied.
Katrienair paced around, back and forth. The corner of her eye tingled in rage. She craved for her powers. It'd have been easier to call Luna.
Oh God, why?
"Calm down. She would be around."Julian consoled. Katrienair ignored him and dashed into the thick bush. They all trotted behind her.
They searched the bush for hours but could not find her. Katrienair was frustrated. She's just lost her immortality, now Luna. Is this a punishment or something? She remembered when Luna found her, at her worst. Why would she leave now?!
"We'll find her."Julian consoled her. "Today is the third day. You have to find the others."
Katrienair's eyes flew wide open in shock and disappointment. Does he really know how dear to her heart Luna is? She should give up on the search and find some beings.
On a second thought, she knew she had to find the others but it's hard to decide. She needs to find Luna, what if she's in danger? She's definitely not going to forgive herself if anything goes wrong.
"You are asking me to abandon Luna?"She gasped.
"Isn't she just a wolf? C'mon Katrienair."Claire said nonchalantly.
"She is not just a wolf!" Katrienair attacked.
"She must have gone back to wherever she came from. She's a wolf Katrienair, not human."
Huh... That's a lie. Katrienair thought. She can't leave without saying goodbye. Or maybe I did something wrong.
"Find the others. That's the purpose of this journey right?" Claire added. The guys were quiet. It's glaring that only Claire could talk to her anyhow she liked.
"No, I can't abandon Luna at a point like this. She's been with me all my life. I won't do anything if I don't find her."She swallowed, closed to tears.
"We have only one day left. There are two more beings to be found. You can't abandon them for Luna."
"I can!"She shrieked. "Who told you I can't?!"
She was frustrated. No one seemed to understand. She can't leave Luna. Is her quest a curse? She has lost everything, now Luna. She's not going to live without her.
" 'Zazel, Where does this bush lead to? "
"I don't know, master."Azazel said.
"I know where it leads to." Jameal chipped in. "It's the white coven. But a scared place. It's not the main territory and no one had lived there for years."
Katrienair thought for a while.
"It's either you join me in the search or go find the others yourself." She mounted her horse to leave. "You have a choice."
She rode into the bush, towards the abandoned part of the white coven and her loyal rode trotted behind her.
Gradually, the awkward silence between them eased away. Katrienair was half hearted, throughout the journey. She felt like she's lost herself somewhere in the woods behind them. Julian was quiet, feeling guilty and responsible. Katrienair is hurt and he can't do anything to help.
"With the way thing are, I'm sure we're going into the white coven."Claire said, anticipation in her voice.
"It's been a long time huh"Jameal added.
Azazel arched a brow. "Does another coven really exist?"
"Oh boy! "Claire laughed. "That's where you belong!"
She paused to catch her breathe. "But unfortunately, the prince doesn't. Do you think prince Julian will be allowed to enter?" She addressed Katrienair who was not on any ready to answer.
"Katrienair!"She called out. "Don't tell me you're thinking about a wolf! For heaven's sake!"
Katrienair heard her, that sounded funny anyways. "What were you saying?"
"You're taking the prince into the white coven. Do you think he'd be allowed in?"
"Did you hear Jameal say no one lives there?" She sounded harsh, just the way she wanted to sound.
Claire chuckled. She looked too happy to be hurt. "I'm curious. How did you guys meet? You'll make a perfect couple I must say. Tell me katrienair. "
Katrienair tried hard not to smile. Julian seemed to be very absent and she called out. "Julian!"He snapped out of his thoughts and faced her. "Claire asked how we met."
"Oh..."He said. " She's my commander Claire. I'm her assistant. Don't stress my commander with your questions. She asked the king she needed o find new legion members and I had to go with her, as her assistant."
Claire arched a brow. "How will a whole prince, the heir, be a mere assistant. Don't you feel insulted that our little master calls you by your name?"
"No, I'm used to it."
That only got Claire more curious.
"Was this wierd post forced or something?"
"Claire, enough of the questions. He's my assistant period!"Katrienair shunned her.
"It isn't good enough katrienair."She grumbled. "While we were made slaves, you were made an army head. It's not fair."
Katrienair winced. "Which is fair? I took a mark and now I pay hard for it."
That prompted enough silence.
* Katrienair's POV*
When we got to the coven, sunset had fallen. We found a old house in the abandoned city to stay. Jameal warned that we should not go in. 'the house is haunted' he said but there was no where else. I led the way.
It was really a old house, the old fashioned living room was covered in dust. The others stayed down while my instincts led to the upper rooms. I went alone, no one noticed. There were a lot of rooms there, it looked like it's formally an hotel or a brothel. I searched evey room, there's a bed and a couch in each room, a bathroom and toilet. I searched each room only to get to one that's locked. I got dangerously curious. Why is this room locked? My first thought was to call the others attention. Jameal said the house is haunted but I just didn't care.
I broke the door with my dagger and walked in. There was someone in it. He sat at a little window looking completely shocked to see me.
I saw him reach for a bow by his bed side.
"No no!"I screamed."Don't! It's not necessary. I'm not going to hurt you. "
He ignored, picked up his bow and arrow and aimed.
"Ethan please, I'm here to save you."
On hearing his name, he dropped his weapon in shock.
