Chapter 87

** Katrienair's POV **

I was hot, caged in a vacuum. A fire burned by my side while I was chained to a metal wall. I knew I instantly where I was. The demons have me now and they can do with me whatever they wish. "You should not be afraid of anything. We are unbeatable..." Alistair's words kept my sanity and fear stood afar away. While death stared at me with it's cold icy blue eyes, all I could think of was Julian. He really is a case. Why did he snub me like that?! He owes me, a big apology. He made me looks so stupid. How dare he?!

I tried to move my neck, a stingling pain stopped me. That pain, so familiar. But what exactly is on my neck?!

I scanned the room for any sign of life but there was no one around. Disappointed, I shut my eyelids again and drowned back in my sleep.

*

"Katrienair!" A familiar voice called out. Slowly, I opened my eyes. Bright green light flushed into my pupils causing me to blink several time before I could put myself together.

"Katrienair" I heard again. The realisation of who the speaker was hit me like a snowball. I gasped in shock.

"Master, comforter..."I swallowed, my throat dry and aching. "Is that you? Oh my... it's been a long time."

"Long time indeed." He was standing right in front of me. "You're bigger now ain't you?"

"Uhm."I realized the last time I saw him I was in a cage and now. There's no improvement. He must be very disappointed.

"I know I've...messed up. Don't make jest of me."

"Messed up huh?"He chuckled. "No one said that. Huh Katrienair, you should be proud of yourself. You are much bigger than I left you."

He opened up the zipper of my coat and yanked it off. I was grateful. Gush, the heat is so killing. His hands traveled along my neck. It traced the same spot I've been feeling pain.

"You got..." He swallowed. "Katrienair, would you explain how this got here?"

I arched my brow. What is he talking about?

"What are you talking about?

He stretched his hands, a mirror appeared and he placed it in front of me. I could see a mark on my neck, like the bite of an animal. How?! I do not remember fighting with an animal.

"I never got bitten master. How did that get there?" I questioned.

"Are you asking me that?"He smirked. I racked my brain hard. I remember I woke up the day before with pain from that same spot. Meaning, the mark goyy there in the hours of the night. But who or what...

"You don't need to think too much about that anyway" He snapped me out of my thoughts. "I just wanted to make a point."

"Thanks for coming back comforter."

"I never left." He muttered as if thinking of something else.

"You're training today. Don't be too excited."

I bit my lip hard, that the taste of my own blood filled my mouth. His trainings are hell. Why do I need to train again?!

"Training? Why do you always train me when I'm at most vulnerable state. For heaven's sake! I'm chained and helpless right now." I tried to control my urge to scream at him. He just laughed. "You finally had the guts to yell at me. You changed and it's...nice."

"Huh?" I looked around. The room was totally dark except from the light that radiated from his body. The fire at a corner had stopped burning brightly but it still produced heat. I felt like my skin was worming off.

"Please put off that fire. I'm going to melt away some"

"Put it off yourself if you can." He challenged, more like an insult. He's trying to show me how powerless I have become. I can't use my powers. These chains. I feel it's charmed specially for that purpose. Breaking free becomes more impossible.

"Tell me Katrienair, before we begin our training. What have I missed in your life." What a jerk?

"You said you never left."

He gave a slight chuckled. "Let's say, I want to hear from the horses mouth. How she tripled her powers in Less than a year."

Tripled?! Where did he get that from?!

"I lost my powers, not triple them."I corrected.

"How did that feel?"

I pursed my lip, thinking of an answer. How did losing my powers feel? Sincerely, words can't describe it. "I can't say. It's..." I trailed off realizing who I was speaking to. "Wait, why are you trying to pry? Why ask all these questions?"

He ignored my questions. "What's the most interesting thing you did as an adult?"

I was glad that he could not read my thoughts now. Maybe, just maybe, that the reason he's asking a lot of questions. A lot has really changed.

"Too personal. You are a stranger to me. I don't even know your name."

"Hmmm."He sighed. "You should know my name now. I guess you're matured enough. I'm Daniel. That's my coven name. Don't say it out ever."

"Hmm."I moaned. Deep inside, my subconscious was jumping all over the place. He has a name, sweet God!

"What do you want to know?"

"I already said that." His back was turned against me, as if shy that he's just revealed who he was. He was staring at the wall.

"I led a war. It was new and surreal. I felt like I belong there. And most interesting thing as an adult ...." I thought for a while. "I drank the white coven's wine. It was good"

"What else did you do?"

Huh...his questions are getting too much.

"Can we just get straight to training? This position is the most stressful ever, I swear."

"What else did you do?"

"A lot." I pouted

"You fell in love?"

"No!"I screamed. What?! That was...

"I can never fall in love!"

He faced me.

"Watch your words. You've just been marked by a lover, definitely not a stranger."
