**Chapter 9: A Name in the Dark**
Elias sat in his car, the engine idling as he stared at the city skyline. The name Clara Monroe lingered in his mind, a puzzle piece he hadn't yet figured out how to place.
A former associate of Voss. A woman who had managed to disappear from his grasp. That alone made her valuable. It also made her dangerous.
He pulled out his phone and dialed Collins. It rang twice before a groggy voice answered.
"You do realize it's two in the morning, right?"
"And you do realize I don't care," Elias shot back. "I need a favor. Find me Clara Monroe."
A pause. Then, "Why does that name sound like trouble?"
"Because it is."
Collins sighed. "Alright, give me a few hours. I'll see what I can dig up."
Elias ended the call and leaned back. His gut told him he was getting closer, but closer to what, he wasn't sure yet.
One thing was certain—whoever Clara Monroe was, she held answers.
And he intended to get them.
