Chapter 19: The Sword, the Shadow, and the Sleeping Flame
The mark had not faded.
Though the scout's body had been taken to rest, the symbol of the bleeding rose—etched in glowing runes of ichor—remained burned into the plaza stone.
No amount of magic, fire, or cleansing removed it.
The First Court had left their message.
And now the sanctum was holding its breath.
Alex gathered his inner circle in the high war chamber. The flickering lights of the room reflected off the obsidian-and-gold table shaped like a crescent moon — with his throne set just behind it.
Veira stood again, her chains no longer restraining but wrapped tightly at her waist like coiled snakes. Her eyes burned faintly violet now — the wrath receded, but not forgotten.
Elaris spoke first.
"This isn't just a warning," she said, pointing to the drawn copy of the bleeding rose mark on a scroll. "It's a summoning glyph. But not for something… mortal."
Serenyth's brows furrowed. "Then for what?"
"Something sealed," she said. "Something tied to Asmodeus' origin. The forgotten part."
Kyra's flames danced along her fingertips. "So they want him to remember something?"
"No," Veira said suddenly. "They want to wake something he chose to forget."
Alex looked at Crimson Fang — now glowing faintly along his back.
"Then it's time to find out what."
2. The Sword's Pull
That night, Alex stood alone in the Sanctuary of Flame — a private chamber below the sanctum core where energy from the Lust Domain crystallized into soft, glowing stones.
Crimson Fang pulsed with light.
The blade was ancient, yet unawakened.
Bound to him, but not yet fully claimed.
He unsheathed it and placed the tip against the floor, kneeling with the pommel resting between his palms.
"True name," he whispered. "You want one. But not just for power."
The sword glowed brighter — and heat flushed through his mind.
A voice echoed in his thoughts.
"I was born the moment you chose love over victory. But I will awaken only when you claim both as your right."
Then — images.
A tower. Buried in a forgotten canyon. Surrounded by ash trees. Carved with obsidian roses.
In its center — a blade, twin to his.
The system flashed.

3. Into the Rift
He chose Sophia to accompany him.
Not only because their bond was strongest — but because what waited beyond might require her blade as much as his own.
The entrance to the Veil Rift was a crack in reality beneath the sanctum itself — a relic of Asmodeus' final fall. No one dared enter it before. Not even Elaris.
As the magic parted before them, revealing the staircase of void-stone, Sophia whispered:
"If this is your soul… it's a little more broken than I expected."
Alex chuckled dryly. "Just wait till you see the basement."
They descended.
The Veil Rift was silent.
No monsters. No magic.
Just a pulsing presence — like walking through the chest of a god mid-heartbeat.
Stone roses covered the walls. Some blooming. Some bleeding.
The path led them to a chamber half-sunken into the earth, bathed in dim red light.
In its center: a dais.
And upon it: a black coffin carved with both the Lust Crest and the First Court's sigil — the bleeding rose.
Sophia drew her blade.
"You sure you want to open that?"
"No," Alex said. "But I have to."
The moment his hand touched the coffin's seal, the room trembled.
Stone cracked.
Vines surged from the earth, snapping like whips.
And then it rose.
A figure — tall, gaunt, dressed in ceremonial armor of thorned gold and red-black silk. Its face was hollow, skin translucent, veins glowing with violet flame.
Its voice was wind and ruin.
"You are not yet worthy."

The Guardian struck first.
A wave of red fire surged across the chamber — but instead of burning, it consumed aura. Alex's Lust energy snapped like cords yanked tight.
Sophia leapt in, dual blades flashing, shadow wrapped around her like armor.
She slashed across the Guardian's chest — only for the wound to reverse, healing itself instantly and flinging her back with the force of the recoil.
"It's not fire!" she shouted. "It's reflected will!"
Alex narrowed his eyes. "Then it's a test."
He steadied himself, let the system sync with his bond to Sophia.

The Guardian lunged, blade made of withered bone lashing outward.
Alex parried with Crimson Fang — and felt something unlock in the weapon.
Not a skill.
A memory.
"You made me to protect what you couldn't control — yourself."
Alex pressed harder, eyes glowing crimson.
"Then protect me now."
He roared — and the Crimson Fang erupted in flame, not from anger or wrath, but from clarity.
The Guardian paused.
Sophia moved in again, this time combining her strikes with Alex's aura pulses — timed, fluid, like a dance.
They moved together.
One shadow. One flame.
Alex struck.
Straight through the Guardian's chest.
The figure stopped.
Its form crumbled into ash.
And the coffin opened.
Inside was the Echo-Twin Blade — shaped almost identically to Crimson Fang, but laced in white fire and thorned gold.
The two blades hummed in sync.
The system flared.

Sophia stepped back, watching him.
Alex placed both blades in his palms.
And whispered:
"Your name… is Asmodiel."
The chamber shook.
Light exploded.

Back in Eros Sanctum, word spread fast.
The King had descended into the rift — and returned with a new weapon, a new aura, and something deeper in his eyes.
He called a council that night.
Sophia sat to his right. Veira, Kyra, Serenyth, and Elaris flanked the table.
He placed Asmodiel on the stone in front of them — and everyone felt it.
The blade didn't just burn.
It recognized them.
"This isn't just power," Alex said. "It's responsibility. Every bond I forge, every name I carry — this sword will reflect it."
He looked at each of them.
"And if I ever forget who I am, I expect one of you to strike me with it."
Kyra smiled. "I'll make it a love tap."
Elaris bowed her head. "Then we begin the next phase."
That night, a strange wind passed through the sanctum.
And in the empty scout barracks — where the assassin mark had first appeared — a second symbol appeared on the floor.
A mirror of the bleeding rose.
But this time, it was upside down.
And at its center…
A black eye.
Open.
Watching.
