The Eye of Illusion and Escape, Konan and the Book of Mystery

Two days later, in the Rain Shinobi Village, within the country of rain.

The sky was dark, as thick clouds loomed like an endless ocean, covering the sky. Continuous rain pounded the iron buildings below.

At this moment, inside a gloomy tall building, two figures stood in silence.

One was a woman with light blue and purple hair, her eyes a cold orange hue beneath a layer of purple eyeshadow. A lavender paper flower adorned the right side of her head.

The other was a man with short orange hair, his forehead protector marked with the symbol of Rain Shinobi Village. His pale face had dozens of black steel nails embedded in it—this was none other than the Heavenly Dao Payne.

They both stood looking at the torrential rain outside, silent and contemplative.

Suddenly, an invisible swirl of air appeared behind them, and with a strange Uzumaki, a figure emerged.

It was Afei, the masked man from Akatsuki.

But today, there was no playful demeanor about him. His expression was serious as he approached Payne and Konan, speaking in a low voice.

"Orochimaru has been taken care of, right?"

Konan nodded slightly and answered calmly, "The 'emptiness' ring has been given to him, and his uniform has been sent as well."

"Good," Afei said. "From now on, let him work alongside Kakuzu. Kakuzu will also keep an eye on Orochimaru's movements."

"Understood," Payne replied indifferently. He understood Afei's reasoning—Orochimaru was too dangerous to be left unchecked. Having someone with enough strength to monitor him was the best solution, ensuring that Orochimaru wouldn't turn on them.

After a moment of silence, Afei spoke again, his tone deeper than before.

"I have to say, this mission was quite rewarding."

He looked at them both before continuing, "As you two suspected, this person named Kuzo really has a mysterious pupil technique."

He paused for effect, then added, "According to my investigation, his bloodline contains a limit, called the 'Evil King True Eye.' It's a true eye of illusion, an upgraded form of magic. He can release various elemental escapes, strange illusions, and even abilities resembling gravity manipulation. In short, it might be a power as complicated as the Rinnegan."

Payne and Konan exchanged glances, their expressions showing a mixture of intrigue and expectation.

So, Kuzo's golden pupils weren't just for show—he truly had something extraordinary.

Before they could think further, Afei continued.

"But compared to these confirmed facts, there's one thing I need Konan to confirm herself."

"Mm?" Konan's voice was soft, her curiosity piqued.

Afei's voice lowered as he spoke again. "When we completed our mission, Kuzo went out on the pretext of personal business. He obtained a mysterious book from a commercial street in the Land of Fire."

He paused, his voice cold. "When I asked him about it, he deliberately took out an unrelated novel to cover it up."

Afei's expression shifted slightly as he revealed, "But all of this was clear to me."

A sly smile played on his lips. "I want to know if there's something strange in that book Kuzo has... Konan, since you were the one who recruited him, it's up to you to find out."

"I remember the book's cover was yellow..." Afei finished.

A few minutes later, in Kuzo's residence in Rain Shinobi Village, Kuzo sat casually flipping through the pages of *Intimate Paradise* that he had obtained from Hatake Kakashi, working on completing his side mission.

"Tsk, tsk, no wonder Kakashi likes this one so much," he mused, turning the pages with a smile. "It really lives up to its title as the best-seller in the Ninja World..."

The contents of the book were more than just stimulating—they were outrageous.

At that moment, the door to his room opened with a soft *creak.*

A flurry of paper instantly entered the room, swirling around before solidifying into a human form.

Kuzo turned his head to see Konan standing there.

"Why is she here?" Kuzo thought, his expression momentarily freezing.

Konan, however, didn't seem to notice Kuzo's reaction. She glanced at the book in his hands and spoke, her voice calm but with an edge. "Kuzo, I'm here... huh?"

Her voice faltered as she froze in place, her eyes locking on the book Kuzo was holding.

In just a short moment, she had already seen the content described inside the book, and her face instantly froze.

She was completely dumbfounded.

"This... this is the mysterious book the masked man was curious about?!" Konan thought in disbelief. "Does he have a brain problem?!"

She couldn't comprehend how Kuzo—of all people—would have such a book in his possession.

Kuzo glanced at Konan with a smile, oblivious to her inner shock. "Ah, Konan. You've come at just the right time. I'm working on my mission, but you can sit if you want."

Konan stared at the book in his hands, still frozen in place. Her mind raced as she tried to process the situation.

"Why would Kuzo have *that* book? Is he really hiding something? And what does it have to do with the masked man?"

Her thoughts were a whirlwind as she struggled to make sense of what was happening.
