...
Before continuing with the story, some might wonder: Why wasn't Konjiki no Yami waiting for Akira in front of the school? The answer is simple. After spending a few hours exploring and getting to know the city better, she got hungry and decided to look for something to eat. However, she didn't realize how much time had passed while she wandered around the city. Eventually, she also realized that she didn't have any Earth money to buy food. All of her funds were in galactic credits, so she couldn't even afford a measly piece of bread. And that, basically, is the whole story.
Looking at Yami who was looking with desire at the store where they sold Taiyaki, I quickly hurried to buy one, and then approached her.
"Here" – I said while giving him two Taiyaki that I had bought.
"Mmm? Why are you giving them to me?" – Yami asked without understanding.
Yami had recognized him instantly, that was her target, the one she had come to assassinate: Akira Yuto, the future King of the Galaxy. How much time had she spent wandering the city? Perhaps hunger had made her lose track of time, but luckily for her, he appeared right in front of her, saving her the trouble of looking for him.
"I saw you staring at the stall and figured you were hungry but didn't have any money. That's why I got this for you," I said with a smile.
Surprised, Yami took the taiyaki and bit into it.
"Delicious..." she said.
It was more than just delicious: it was amazing.
"I'm glad you like it. Oh, and you can have this one too. I'm not really hungry; I just bought it on a whim" - I added with another smile.
Yami looked at Akira in confusion, but picked up the other Taiyaki.
"Well, I'm glad you like it and I hope this will ease your hunger. Unfortunately there is someone waiting for me at home and I have to go, goodbye" – I said calmly.
And then, I just left.
*Note: I will repeat that I know that this was different from what happened in the manga; it's not a mistake.
As expected, the moment Akira left, Yami began to follow him from a safe distance, she wasn't about to let this opportunity slip away. However, Akira's kind gesture made her hesitate for a moment, unsure whether what she was doing was truly right or wrong.
"The reports that greaseball gave me didn't say he was this kind" - Yami muttered.
In addition to the publicly available information, Burgus had given her some intel he personally gathered and she read it during her journey to Earth. Yami found it odd that he had managed to collect so much in such a short time, but she assumed it was because the news of the king securing an heir had likely been shared with the nobles well before it was made public; that kind of thing tended to happen.
"Did he lie to me?" – Yami wondered.
The reports that that ball of fat gave her said that Akira was cruel and that he only cared about himself, in addition to that he liked to make and see people suffer, but the Akira that she saw today both in the morning and now, did not give her that impression at all. After all: What kind of evil person would be so kind to a stranger? In fact, not many would buy food from a person with no money, so Yami doubted the additional information she received from that ball of fat.
"In any case, the work is already accepted and I have to do it. Whether the reports are wrong or not, I'll settle accounts with that ball of fat later" – Yami said to herself.
Once she accepted a job, she carried it out no matter what. It didn't matter if she received false information or not, it was her duty to fulfill her mission.
Yami followed Akira for quite a while, but soon noticed something strange. Akira told her that he was going home, however, that was not the case and instead he simply walked aimlessly for almost 2 hours until it was completely dark.
"This is weird" – Yami said to herself.
Of course, Akira was under no obligation to tell the truth to her, a mere stranger, but even so, her instincts told her that something about him was off, that something strange was going on.
Akira continued walking while Yami followed him at a safe distance. Soon, darkness fell over the entire city, and only the glow of the streetlights illuminated the path ahead. This, of course, wasn't a problem for Yami, she could see perfectly in the dark. Unfortunately, she still couldn't make a move; there were too many people on the streets. So, she decided to wait a few more minutes before attempting to assassinate Akira.
Yami kept tailing him until he arrived at a park. The place was completely silent and deserted, the only light coming from the faint glow of the streetlamps just enough for a normal human to see what lay ahead. Yami, now certain there were no bothersome witnesses around, decided it was time to act. But at that very moment…
"I think it's about time you showed yourself. No? After all, you've been following me for a long time" – Akira said.
Yami was surprised. How was it possible that a simple human had managed to detect its presence? It should be said that her concealment capacity was only surpassed in the galaxy by one person, one so terrible that it is better not to mention it for the moment.
"How did you know I was following you?" – Yami asked.
…
"How did you know I was following you?" – Yami asked.
Actually, I didn't know for sure. But after I bought her that Taiyaki, I had a feeling she wouldn't pass up the chance to follow me. That's why I waited until nightfall, and that's why I came to this park, to settle things once and for all.
What would've happened if Yami hadn't followed me? Well, that's easy, I would've looked like a complete idiot, because honestly… I had no idea.
"Intuition" – I said.
"Intuition?" – Yami said somewhat surprised.
Just by intuition? Who was this human?
"I guess someone sent you here to kill me. Am I wrong?" – I asked.
"That's right, I'm sorry, but it's not personal, it's just work" – Yami nodded.
"May I know the name of this beautiful lady at least?" – I asked.
"I don't have a name. But everyone call me "Konjiki no Yami"" – Yami said.
"Oh, it's not bad, but it's too long. I think I'll call you Yami from now on, sounds a lot better. Don't you think so?" – I said.
For a moment, Yami blushed, but quickly pulled herself together. What had just happened to her? Did she blush? She, the assassin without feelings? How is this possible? This human in front of her was dangerous.
"Call me whatever you want" – Yami said.
If someone else had dared to call her that, he would surely have been beaten to death by now, but for some reason she liked Akira calling her like that. She didn't understand it. Why couldn't she get angry with this human?
"Then from now on you will be called Yami. That name is much more beautiful" – I nodded.
"It's okay. Any last words?" – Yami asked.
For a moment she doubted whether or not she should kill him, but soon that doubt disappeared. Killing was her job and she wouldn't leave a job halfway through!
"Let me tell you something. Why are you an assassin?" – I asked.
"Because that's my job" – Yami replied.
"Do you like being an assassin?" – I asked again.
"It's not a matter of liking it. That's the only thing I'm good for" - Yami said.
"Well, I don't think that's the case. I sincerely believe that you are good for much more than you think" – I said sincerely.
"What are you saying? You just met me and you don't know anything about me" – Yami said.
Why was this human saying those words to her? Did he want to make her doubt so that he could escape?
"I just met you, yes, but I know how to judge people and I know that you don't like to be an assassin" – I said.
"I've already told you that it's not a question of whether I like it or not. I have no choice, being an assassin is the only thing I know how to do" – Yami said.
"I don't think so. Why don't you come with me and leave that life? You won't need to kill more people" – I said calmly.
Thanks to the manga, I knew that Yami considered herself a weapon, something that existed only to kill. So I got straight to the point and tried to convince her to come with me. In the manga, it was thanks to Rito and the others that Yami eventually left her life as an assassin behind and became an ordinary student.
That's exactly what I want. I want her to abandon her life as an assassin and live a normal life.
Ahem. Yes, I want her in my harem too, but the main reason is what I just said. I swear. My reasons aren't completely impure.
"Go… with you...? I don't get it. What are you trying to say by that?" - Yami asked, stunned.
She didn't understand. Why couldn't she attack that human? If it had been anyone else, they would already be dead. But… why was it so hard to strike the person standing in front of her?
"Yami, quit your job as an assassin. You're worth more than that. Come with me and live a normal life, like you deserve" - I said bluntly.
Yami's eyes widened in shock, unable to process the words she had just heard. He wanted her to give up her work as an assassin? No… she was a weapon. A weapon created for kill. She couldn't stop being what she was. That's what she was made for.
But then… why did that human's words tempt her so much?
"Come with me, Yami and let's live a normal life" – I said extending my hand.
For a moment, Yami stretched out her hand, but just as she was about to grab Akira's, some horrific memories invaded her mind. Memories of her creation, of her purpose in life, of her first murder and of the purpose for which she was created.
"No, I will not be tempted by those sweet words! I don't know how you could have made me doubt, but my purpose in life is to kill and I was created to do that! You won't make me doubt! - Yami shouted.
Suddenly, her hair turned into several metal blades.
"Since you're so stubborn, I'll force you to come to your senses, Omnitrix!" – I exclaimed.
At that moment, the seemingly normal wristwatch transformed into the Omnitrix, surprising Yami.
"What is that?" - she asked.
"Now you will see, for I will use this to make you come to your senses" - I said.
Then, I pressed the dial and transformed into the alien I was looking for.
Yami could only watch as Akira pressed a button on that kind of strange watch, and suddenly a green light almost blinded her. When said light went out, Akira had completely changed. Now he no longer looked human, but his body seemed to be made entirely of glass and he had piercing green eyes with a serious expression on your face.
"Ready? Because I won't be soft just because you're a woman" – I said with a confident smile.
I plan to make her come to her senses with blows (although it sounds a bit macho on my part).
