Chapter 96 – Enraged Tyranitar

To guard against any danger that might appear,

"Come on out, everyone."

Nathan tossed out Poké Balls, releasing all his Pokémon except for Steelix.

One by one, the silhouettes of his Pokémon appeared.

Nathan immediately began giving orders.

"Metagross, use Psychic to gather dry grass and branches. Help Volcarona start a campfire."

"Pangoro, Mimikyu, keep watch on the surroundings."

"Flygon, go ahead and get some rest."

The Pokémon all nodded in response.

It was already late. Many wild Pokémon would be out hunting for food under the cover of darkness. Exploring the mountains at this time wasn't a good idea, so Nathan decided they would camp here for the night.

In the wild, one rule must always be remembered:

Most Pokémon that forage during the day tend to be gentle in nature.

But the ones that hunt at night? They're usually aggressive and dangerous.

That's why nighttime is the most dangerous time.

Nathan took out supplies and a tent from his dimensional backpack and started setting up camp.

He began cooking dinner.

Soon,

The campfire was lit,

Casting a warm orange glow over the area.

"Roar!"

Suddenly, Pangoro let out a low roar, staring toward a specific direction with intense hostility as its aura flared.

The nearby bushes rustled, as though something quickly retreated into the forest.

Nathan glanced in that direction but didn't dwell on it and went back to what he was doing.

Then—

The ground...

Seemed to tremble slightly.

Nathan's expression changed. He immediately pressed himself to the ground to feel it more clearly.

The ground really was vibrating, ever so slightly.

"What's going on?"

He frowned deeply. This late at night, a large-scale Pokémon stampede was unlikely. And if it wasn't a stampede, then the ground shouldn't be shaking like this.

Unless...

Something huge—and extremely heavy—was running nearby. That could explain the tremors.

"Q~"

Mimikyu suddenly made a noise, turning its head in a specific direction.

Nathan followed its gaze, and his expression turned serious and alert.

In his line of sight,

Two figures appeared—a boy and a girl, both around his age.

They looked panicked,

As if something terrifying was chasing them.

And then—

"ROOOAAAR!"

A terrifying roar erupted from the distance, full of overwhelming rage!

"Holy shit!"

As soon as he heard the roar, Nathan's expression changed instantly.

"That's a Tyranitar's roar?!"

His mouth twitched, and without hesitation, he shouted,

"Pangoro! Stop them!"

"Roar!"

Pangoro immediately dashed in front of the boy and girl. It grabbed them both by the neck and hurled them toward Nathan.

"What did you do to make a Tyranitar this angry?!" Nathan asked urgently.

This was no joke.

A wild Tyranitar—and from the pressure it was radiating... this one was Champion-level.

A true Champion-tier Tyranitar, and it was wild.

Just from the sound of its roar, it was already in a rage. If that fury wasn't quelled, the results could be catastrophic.

A berserk Tyranitar destroys anything in its path—mountains, buildings, whatever it encounters.

If this one wasn't angry because of humans, it wouldn't be so bad. But if a human Trainer was the cause of this rage... then it would head straight for a human city.

And once it neared a city, it wouldn't even have to enter—just ten full-powered Earthquakes could cause a massive disaster.

Nathan couldn't just ignore this.

If he had no way to help, fine.

But he did have the power to intervene.

"P-Please help us! That Tyranitar is terrifying!" the girl, about the same age as Nathan, said, pale and trembling with fear.

The boy remained silent.

His face was also filled with fear, but he bit his lip and said nothing.

Still, Nathan noticed that the boy was gripping a Poké Ball tightly.

Even if they didn't say it, Nathan could already guess what had happened. He said coldly,

"Don't tell me... you two took Tyranitar's child?"

At his words,

The girl fell silent,

And the boy still refused to speak.

"You're going to jail," Nathan said bluntly.

That was the truth.

Of all the Pokémon to mess with, they chose Tyranitar. What's worse, they were running in the direction of Emerald City, which meant they were leading Tyranitar straight to the city.

Jail was the least of their worries.

"S-Sorry," the girl said weakly, lowering her head. "We didn't mean to… we just... we needed the money."

"I can see that."

Nathan let out a deep sigh. He wasn't blind—he could tell from their worn-out clothes that they were truly poor, the kind of people who had washed their clothes so many times they were fading.

It was obvious these two weren't elite trainers. They were treasure hunters—those who couldn't afford to enter safe secret realms, so they ventured into the wild to look for valuable baby Pokémon to capture and sell, or rare items like berries and other resources.

But that kind of work was far more dangerous.

Especially since these two didn't seem particularly strong.

They had been running without releasing any Pokémon—likely because their team had already been heavily injured by Tyranitar's fury. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been fleeing on foot.

Rumble...

Rumble...

The tremors grew stronger.

Clearly, that Tyranitar was getting closer.

"ROOOAAAR!"

With a furious roar that shook the area, the boy trembled uncontrollably. He stood up suddenly and shouted,

"Sis, run! It's coming!"

"Stop them," Nathan said calmly.

Pangoro appeared in front of them again, gently placing both paws on their shoulders—but the strength was enough to force them to the ground.

They couldn't move at all.

"What are you trying to do?" the boy asked warily, staring at Nathan.

"Give me the baby Tyranitar," Nathan said, taking a deep breath. "We have to return it. If we don't, that Tyranitar will bring its rage to Emerald City."

Every city usually had a Gym Leader as its protector. Only in extreme emergencies would reinforcements be called in from nearby areas.

But a Champion-level Tyranitar? Emerald City wouldn't be able to handle it.

At least, not until a member of the Elite Guardians arrived.

This world wasn't some utopia like the anime.

The power of Pokémon had been proven throughout history.

Some foreign cities had been completely destroyed by the wrath of powerful wild Pokémon.

The incident that stuck in Nathan's memory the most was one from the Federated Nation—a city wiped out by a single wild Bastiodon.

All it took was one Earthquake from that Bastiodon,

And half the city was obliterated.

That's how terrifying a rampaging, high-level wild Pokémon could be.

The boy stayed silent, clearly hesitating.

Nathan's tone turned cold.

"If you want to live, you'd better hand over the Poké Ball. Otherwise, I'll kill both of you. That'll do a much better job of calming Tyranitar down."

He wasn't interested in hearing their tragic backstory.

It would just waste time.

The cold edge in his voice, combined with the killing intent radiating from his Pokémon—Volcarona and the others—was enough to make the siblings shiver.

After a moment of hesitation, the boy finally handed the Poké Ball to Nathan.

And at that moment—

Tyranitar arrived.

The instant Nathan saw it, his pupils shrank involuntarily.

Shock flashed across his face.

A normal Tyranitar was around two meters tall.

But this one?

It was over four meters!

"ROOOAAR!"

Its blood-red eyes radiated uncontrollable fury.

And the moment it saw the siblings, it let out another deafening roar.

"Tyranitar, your child is right here. I'll give it back to you, so how about you calm down and leave?"
