CHAPTER 40
Diandra blinked at him. "What?" She was feigning innocence.
Kael's brows twitched, knowing something was amiss. And she was lying to his face or trying to hide something. In just a short period of time that she was around him, or maybe he was referring to the Diandra he had read about in the book, she doesn't like to appear weak to anyone.
"You just winced." He said, stepping closer. His anger melted into something sharper, into concern. "You're hurt."
"I am fine, Your Majesty." That response came too quickly. Too defensive for a normal Diandra that was always composed and poised in her tone. She even forgot to be mindful in her words that she said the courtesy again.
He heaved a deep breath. "Don't do that. Don't lie to me."
