It started with a faint sparking sound, followed by a loud crackling noise. The electrical box in the hallway had malfunctioned, and flames were now licking at the edges of the panel.
At first, no one noticed the danger. But as the flames grew higher and the smoke began to spread, the maids and workers in the house sprang into action.
"Fire!" someone shouted, panic rising in their voice. "The house is on fire!"
The maids and workers dropped whatever they were doing and ran for the doors. They pushed and shoved each other, desperate to escape the inferno.
One of the maids, a young woman named Sarah, was in the kitchen when the fire started. She was cooking dinner, and the smell of burning food filled the air. But as she turned to grab a towel to put out the flames, she saw that the fire was much bigger than she had thought.
The kitchen was filling with smoke, and the heat was intense. Sarah knew she had to get out, fast. She dropped the towel and ran for the door, joining the throngs of people streaming out of the house.
As she ran, Sarah could hear the sound of shattering glass and the crackle of flames. She could feel the heat on her skin, and her lungs were burning from the smoke.
She stumbled out into the cool morning, gasping for breath. The other maids and workers were gathered around her, all of them coughing and choking.
As they looked back at the house, they could see that the flames were spreading fast. The windows were shattering, and the roof was starting to collapse.
One of the workers, a young man named John, was frantically dialing 911 on his phone. "We need to get out of here," he shouted to the others. "The fire department is on its way."
But as they watched, they could see that Sophia was still trapped inside. She was locked in her room, and there was no way for her to escape.
The maids and workers looked at each other in horror. They knew they had to do something to save Sophia. But as they turned to go back inside, they were confronted with a wall of flames.
Sophia who recently got an idea of what was going on started pounding on the door forcefully, screaming for help. But her cries were drowned out by the sound of crackling flames and shattering glass. The smoke was getting thicker, making it hard for her to breathe.
She stumbled back from the door, her eyes scanning the room frantically for an escape. But the windows were barred, and the door was locked. She was trapped.
Sophia's asthma was kicking in, making her lungs constrict. She gasped for air, but it was like inhaling a burning rag. She stumbled around the room, desperate to find a way out.
Just then sophia passed out.
It was then Marcus appeared,Marcus who had been meeting with a client recently drove back home, seeing the thick smoke lingering from his roof and his staffs all outside wailing and screaming for help.
"where is Sophia?" He screamed out asking no one in particular.
"She is trapped in her room." Sarah the maid who served her dinner the previous night spoke up in distress.
"I'll get her, he screamed and with that he turned and ran into the burning building.
The workers screamed in uniform knowing Marcus might get trapped in the fire.
As Marcus rushed into the burning building, the heat was intense, and the smoke was choking. He covered his mouth with his shirt and made his way to Sophia's room.
He burst into her room, and his eyes scanned the space frantically. Sophia was lying on the floor, her body limp and still. Marcus's heart stopped as he rushed to her side.
He dropped to his knees and gently turned her over. Sophia's face was pale, and her eyes were closed. Marcus's hands trembled as he felt for a pulse.
For a moment, he thought he had lost her. He thought she was gone. Panic set in, and Marcus's mind went blank.
But then, he felt a faint beat beneath his fingers. Sophia was alive.
Marcus let out a sigh of relief and scooped Sophia up in his arms. Her hair dangled down, and her head rolled back. Marcus held her close, his heart still racing with fear.
As he stumbled out of the room, the smoke and heat enveloped them.
he knew he had to act fast. The smoke was getting thicker, and the heat was becoming unbearable. He could barely see his hand in front of his face, and the flames were getting closer and closer.
Marcus stumbled forward, Sophia's limp body clutched tightly in his arms. He coughed, his eyes stinging from the smoke. He tried to call out for help, but his voice was hoarse and barely audible.
As he stumbled through the hallway, Marcus's feet tangled in the debris scattered on the floor. He fell hard, Sophia's body slipping from his grasp. He quickly scrambled to his feet, his heart racing with fear.
He grabbed Sophia again, holding her tightly as he struggled to find his way through the smoke-filled hallway. The flames were getting closer, and Marcus could feel the heat radiating from the walls.
He stumbled again, this time bumping into a doorframe. Sophia's hanged loosely, and Marcus's heart skipped a beat. He thought he had lost her.
But he refused to give up. With a surge of adrenaline, Marcus pushed forward, Sophia clutched tightly in his arms. He stumbled and staggered, but he kept moving, driven by his determination to save Sophia.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Marcus saw a glimmer of light ahead. He stumbled towards it, Sophia's body bouncing in his arms. He burst through the front door, gasping for air as he emerged into the cool morning air.
He stumbled down the steps, Sophia still clutched in his arms. gasping for breath
And then, suddenly, Marcus's legs gave out. He dropped to his knees, Sophia still clutched in his arms. He looked down at Sophia's pale face his eyes filled with tears.
"Tara, please," he begged, his voice shaking. "Please don't die. Please live."
Marcus's body shook with sobs as he held Sophia close. He rocked back and forth, his eyes fixed on her pale face.
The maids and workers gathered around, their faces filled with concern. But Marcus didn't notice. He was lost in his own world, a world where Sophia was all that mattered.
As the paramedics arrived and rushed to Sophia's side, Marcus refused to let her go. He held her close, his eyes fixed on her face.
"Tara," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry I didn't protect you."
The paramedics gently pried Sophia from Marcus's arms, and he let out a sob. He watched as they loaded Sophia into the ambulance, his heart heavy with fear.
As the ambulance drove away, Marcus collapsed to the ground, his body wracked with sobs. He called out Sophia's name, but it was Tara that echoed through his mind.
Marcus stumbled to his feet, his eyes fixed on the ambulance as it drove away. He took off after it, running as fast as he could. He didn't care about the burning building or the chaos around him. All he cared about was Sophia.
He finally reached his car and jumped in, peeling out of the driveway as he followed the ambulance. He weaved in and out of traffic, his heart racing with fear.
As he followed the ambulance, Marcus's mind was consumed with thoughts of Sophia. He kept calling out her name, but it was Tara that echoed through his mind.
"Tara, please don't die," he begged, his voice shaking. "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry I didn't protect you."
He repeated the words over and over, as if saying them would make it true. He was consumed by guilt and regret, his mind replaying all the moments he could have saved her.
The ambulance finally arrived at the hospital, and Marcus pulled up behind it. He jumped out of his car and rushed to Sophia's side, where the paramedics were transferring her to a gurney.
"Tara, please," Marcus begged, his eyes fixed on Sophia's pale face. "Please don't die. I'm so sorry."
The paramedics exchanged a concerned glance, but Marcus didn't notice. He was too busy begging Sophia to live.
As they wheeled Sophia into the hospital, Marcus followed close behind, his eyes fixed on her face. He kept calling out her name, but it was Tara that echoed through his mind.
Sophia's eyes fluttered open, and suddenly she felt herself being pulled back into the darkness. The last thing she heard was the faint voice, calling out to Tara, vigorously shaking her and begging, begging her to live.
And then, everything went black.
Who was Tara? And why did Marcus call out her name in his moment of desperation? The mystery deepened, and the truth remained hidden, for now.
