Sayaka Tooru sighed as he walked back to his house. His steps were quiet, except for the few crunching of leaves.
It was around two in the morning. A normal time for his work. He had to deliver a pair of twins and it was hard work.
He looked at the dinner that the husband had packed for him, as a gift.
Tooru smiled.
Then he heard the sound of loud knocking. And a familiar face that woke him up at the same time a few days ago.
"What are you doing?" Tooru asked and the man looked at him.
"Calling Miss Shizuka?" Yoojun's eyes glimmered in familiarity, "I got an idea for the bakery—-ask Miss Shizuka for help!"
"Wasn't she gone somewhere?"
"Oh." Yoojun's eyes widened.
"Yeah." Yoojun looked at the house, "Damn."
"What a fucking idiot." Tooru mumbled, then sighed.
"No—"
"Can you really defend yourself?" Tooru asked.
"No," Yoojun mumbled.
They stood there silently. A moment of quiet amidst the chaos.
Tooru started to walk away. Yoojun stared at him.
Tooru stopped and looked back. He took off his muffler and threw it at Yoojun who wore thin clothes.
"Want some coffee?" Tooru started to walk away again.
"Sure," Yoojun followed.
And after a few turns a small house stood there in all of its lack of might. When Yoojun came there previously, he had not noticed the smallness.
It was as big as a one room bedroom.
"Small," Yoojun said out loud.
"Shut up!" Tooru glared at him.
"No."Yoojun paused as Tooru turned away, and whispered, "It's small."
"Why are you like your kid?" Tooru opened the door.
"Which kid?" Yoojun asked as he entered.
The smell of cigarettes mixed with beer and coffee flowed into his nostrils. He scrunched his nose.
"The one who was sick?" Tooru walked towards what Yoojun assumed was the kitchen.
"She is just someone I know?" Yoojun said and Tooru made an 'o' shape with his lips.
"By the way," Yoojun removed some of the beer bottles out of his way. "Your house stinks."
"Better than too many tissues and porn mags." Tooru replied.
"Not particularly—"
"Do you want beer?" Tooru cut him off.
"No. It makes me sleepy." Yoojun stared at Tooru's back. It reminded him of his sister for some reason.
"I have to go home before Naoko wakes up," Yoojun added. "She gets scared."
"She lives with you?" Tooru boiled some water.
Yoojun nodded.
Yoojun thought about Naoko for a moment.
"You are smart right?" Yoojun asked, his throat a little dry.
"What?" Tooru poured some tea leaves into the boiling pot, "Probably?"
"What should I do if a girl gets molested by a guy?" Yoojun asked.
"Kill the guy, scum like 'em are better off the planet," was Tooru's sharp reply.
"Right! But Naoko said I don't need to." Yoojun mumbled.
Tooru dropped a spoon.
Then he picked it up then washed it. He mixed some sugar with the hot drink. And took out a cold beer bottle.
He went over and opposite to Yoojun. Giving him the tea.
"Do you know who?" Tooru asked as he took a sip of the beer.
"No, she doesn't remember," Yoojun's voice was gruff.
"Let's kill 'em." Tooru answered.
"How?"
"I don't know."
"But I don't want to upset Naoko, she would annoy me all the time." Yoojun suddenly said.
"Stupid fucker." Tooru mumbled under his breath.
Then Yoojun drank some tea, his tongue felt heavier than usual.
They both drank their respective beverages.
Yoojun finished it and placed it on the kitchen counter.
There were lots of plates and glasses laying, waiting to be washed.
Yoojun took one and started to clean them all.
"You are so messy."
"I am a doctor too."
Yoojun thought for a moment.
"I just got the greatest idea ever!" He yelled
"What?" Tooru drawled.
"You can live with us!" Yoojun almost broke a plate.
"Huh?" Tooru raised a brow.
"That way maybe you could check up on Naoko." Yoojun continued, "And no dirty dishes."
"No." Tooru sighed, "I want my privacy."
"Oh, okay," Yoojun rolled his eyes.
Tooru watched as Yoojun finished cleaning the plates.
The cigarette butts were out of the way too.
"On the other hand, take me home." Tooru laid on the floor Yoojun cleaned.
"No." Yoojun muttered.
"Huh why?" Tooru stared at Yoojun who vacuumed the place.
"I don't want you smoking around her." Yoojun said.
"You were the one who suggested?" Tooru scoffed.
"Yeah," He paused for a moment. " Other than smoking, thinking it back, Naoko might be uncomfortable."
"Oh," Tooru bit his lips. "Are you sure it's fine telling me this?"
"I don't know," Yoojun answered honestly. "I never had many friends."
"Me neither." Tooru said,
"Is it 'cause you are a messy ass?" Yoojun asked.
"No," Tooru glared at Yoojun. "Fuck off."
"Then?" Yoojun sat next to Tooru.
"It was because I was rich," Tooru started. "People thought I was some snobby kid."
Yoojun snickered, "You are a snobby kid."
"Shut up," Tooru scowled. "You ain't any better, freaking gorilla."
"Oh please I cleaned up your mess!" Yoojun scoffed.
"Well never asked you to!" Tooru sneered at Yoojun who looked incredulous.
"You are both snobby and ungrateful." Yoojun pointed at Tooru.
"You are both stupid and dumb," retorted Tooru.
"Not more than you!" Yoojun shouted.
"Who is a doctor here?" Tooru pointed a finger at himself as though he had won the argument.
"Well you don't act like one?" Yoojun glared at him.
Tooru stared at Yoojun then asked, "Have you ever even seen a doctor?"
"No, I rarely got sick." Yoojun answered.
"Lucky fucker." Tooru ran his hands through his hair.
Then they remained silent for two seconds before Yoojun asked another question.
"Why did you become a doctor?"
"I liked heroes. And doctors were the closest to it." Tooru leaned against the wall.
"That's cool."
"What about you? What do you do?" Tooru asked.
"I'm a farmer," was Yoojun's reply.
"Oh, you always liked it?"
"No my friend did, she died though."
"Guess all rich boys have it like this." Tooru chuckled.
"I'm not rich anymore." Yoojun shrugged.
"Well you are a poor man, but you were a rich boy," snarked Tooru.
"I guess," Yoojun paused for a moment. "You too huh!"
"Did someone die for you too?" Yoojun questioned, softly patting Tooru's shoulder..
"No, but my first love did kill me." Tooru said in a soft voice.
"But you are alive."
Tooru pinched Yoojun.
"Well rich boys are stupid," Tooru sighed, rubbing his eyes. "'Cause they never grow to be rich men."
