Chapter 11: The First Step Toward Mastery
Sidharth stood in the floating temple, his heart still racing from the battle against his doppelgänger. He clenched his fists, feeling the lingering warmth of his newly unlocked Soul Control ability. The golden glow around his hands faded, but a sense of newfound strength remained.
Diya bounced excitedly beside him. "That was amazing, brother! You were like a hero from a video game!"
Acharya Vimal chuckled. "That was just the first step. You have unlocked your soul's potential, but you must train harder to master it."
Sidharth nodded. "I'm ready. What's next?"
The Acharya gestured, and suddenly, the temple floor beneath them shifted. The glowing inscriptions rearranged themselves, forming a pathway that spiraled upward into the sky.
"The Path of Balance," Vimal explained. "This test will push your body, mind, and soul. If you succeed, your power will grow. If you fail… you will start over."
Sidharth took a deep breath. "Let's do it."
Diya tugged on his sleeve. "Be careful, okay? I don't want to have to drag you back if you fall!"
Sidharth laughed. "Don't worry, little sis. I got this."
He stepped onto the glowing path, and immediately, the air around him changed. A heavy force pressed down on his body, making it harder to move. He struggled forward, his muscles straining against the invisible weight.
"This is Physical Resistance," Acharya Vimal called out. "You must push through with your body and spirit!"
Sidharth gritted his teeth and pushed forward. Each step felt like he was walking through a storm, but he refused to stop. The path twisted ahead, leading him toward a floating platform where a giant stone guardian stood waiting.
The guardian's eyes glowed red as it raised its massive stone fist. Without hesitation, it swung down at Sidharth.
"Watch out!" Diya screamed.
Sidharth jumped back, barely dodging the impact. The ground shook beneath him as the guardian prepared another strike. He had to fight back—but how?
"Use your Soul Control!" Acharya Vimal instructed. "Feel the energy around you!"
Sidharth closed his eyes for a split second. The world slowed, and he could sense the movements of the guardian before they happened. He sidestepped another attack and countered with a glowing punch to the guardian's chest.
The impact sent a shockwave through the air, and cracks formed along the guardian's body. With another precise strike, the guardian crumbled into dust.
A golden notification screen appeared in front of him:
[Physical Strength +10]
[Soul Control Level Up!]
Diya clapped excitedly. "Brother, you're getting stronger!"
Acharya Vimal nodded approvingly. "You are beginning to understand. But the next challenge will test your spirit."
The glowing path extended again, leading to another floating platform. This time, a mirror stood at the center.
Sidharth stepped forward and saw his reflection. But something was off—his reflection smirked at him.
"Who are you?" Sidharth asked cautiously.
The reflection tilted its head. "I am your doubt, your fear, your hesitation. If you cannot face me, you cannot grow."
Suddenly, the reflection lunged at him. Sidharth barely dodged as it attacked with the same moves he had used earlier. It knew all his techniques. He had to think differently.
"If you fight yourself with strength, you will lose," Acharya Vimal said. "Use your spirit. Accept your flaws."
Sidharth hesitated for a moment, then relaxed his stance. He let go of his frustration and embraced his emotions. The reflection stopped attacking and instead merged back into his body.
A new notification appeared:
[Spiritual Energy +10]
[Soul Control Advanced to Intermediate Level!]
The temple vibrated, and the final stretch of the path appeared. Sidharth turned to Acharya Vimal. "What now?"
The Acharya smiled. "Now, you are ready to learn the true nature of karma."
Sidharth clenched his fists, determination burning in his eyes. He had come far, but he knew this was only the beginning.
And so, he took his next step forward, ready for whatever lay ahead.
