'Today we're having another class after lunch' I thought as I headed for the cafeteria. It was the 'Bloodline Specialist class'. Instructor Cornwell had said earlier this morning that the instructors for this class were bloodline researchers and specialists.
The class was for knowing and exploring bloodline potential, getting pointers on how to use your bloodline more effectively and the likes. In the cafeteria, I sat exactly where I had sat the day before.
"Oh hello there" Owen said with a sunny smile before sitting opposite me just like yesterday.
And the fact baffled me. 'I couldn't understand why he approached me, the same with yesterday, and even in class today when he nodded at me. I could understand Levi's since we were both commoners, and lived on the same floor. But this Owen guy.....or could it be that he swung that way?' I thought as a shiver ran down my spine. I had pride in my appearance and all but I definitely did not swing that way.
'No, surely that must not be it, then maybe an ulterior motive? but then again what type of ulterior motives could he have. He was from the big seven, he has everything he could ever wish for. Not to say that I didn't have anything of value with me.
So I decided to address the elephant in the room. "Why are you doing this?" I asked.
"Doing what!?" he asked puzzled.
"You coming to talk to me for no reason. We barely know each other, in fact we don't know each other at all" I was careful with how I voiced my words, lest he gets offended and I start getting targeted for no reason.
"I want to be your friend" he replied with a smile.
"Pardon!?" I blurted, my surprise almost managing to shine through my rather stoic face. Of all the reasons I thought of for him approaching, him wanting to be my friend was not part of it.
"Maybe it has to do with my instincts, my instincts told me to approach you, and I trust my instincts, so what do you say?" he asked.
After a moment of silence, "No" I replied. I thought about it, it would only draw more attention to me, especially that of the other cadets of the big seven.
"What why!!? he asked puzzled. Maybe to him any commoner or perhaps a lower class noble, would jump at the chance of being 'friends' with a member of one of the big seven.
"No reason" I replied. He lost composure for a moment but instantly covered it up.
"Come on if you become my friend I'll teach you how to live life, for example, how to rizz girls?" he said with a sly smile.
If before my stoic face almost broke composure, then now it surely did. I felt my eyes widen and my jaw open. 'Really? rizz girls?' I have way more important things to do than that.
"Aha, I managed to get a reaction out of you" he exclaimed.
"Well now I'm even more glad I declined. Now if you'll excuse me I've got a class to be" I said after I composed myself.
"We're in the same class, remember?" he said as he stood up and started to walk by my side. On our way to the bloodline specialist class, we turned heads wherever we passed. Not because we were good looking, no, but instead because a noble and a commoner were walking together.
Soon we reached another double door titled 1-Alpha. Only this one had 'Bloodline Specialized class' beneath it. It was just like our homeroom class, the only difference being it was bigger and had a huge empty space at the front and also here we would be having multiple instructors instead of a single one.
We were the first to reach the class, since I decided to come here early just to avoid the very person who followed me here. I chose a seat in last elevated row much like in homeroom.
"Adam, what's your bloodline" Owen askedas he sat next to me and was curiously staring at me. I contemplated whether to tell or not but seeing as he would figure it out sooner or later, I decided to tell him.
"Gravity manipulation" I replied.
"Hmmm so it's an abstract one" he hummed before going silent. I was starting to appreciate the silence when he broke it.
"Aren't you gonna ask what mine is?" He asked.
"No" I replied. He was a Hargreaves, whether I asked or not doesn't matter, because I know for sure that his bloodline has to do with the mind.
"You're really a blunt guy aren't you?" he chuckled.
We sat in awkward silence for a while and not long later, a couple of instructors arrived, five to be precise.
"Woah you kids are certainly early. It'll be a little more than fifteen minutes before class starts" said the instructor at the lead.
The instructor at the lead was a bald man and the other four, two were men and the other two were women.
"I'm Instructor Dell, and these are instructors Shane, Xin, George and Kawa" The bald instructor now known as Dell introduced.
"Some punctual cadets you are, If it was any other class, we would have started before the others arrive but since this is the first class, we would have to wait" The bald instructor said.
Not even a minute after he said that, the double doors swung open and I saw a pair of amethyst orbs swirling as if to swallow anyone foolish enough to look into them and also the familiar pressure. I quickly averted my eyes away and the pressure ceased. 'So it's if I'm staring at her eyes' I mused.
Earlier today during homeroom, I stared at her trying to discern why I felt the pressure the day before but I didn't feel anything, granted I was staring at her back. I'll have to keep away from her eyes.
Not long after Aurora came in, cadets started coming in in droves. Time passed and it was time the class started. "Attention cadets" the bald instructor began. "As you all know this is the bloodline specialist class, here it's our job to expand your knowledge on bloodlines".
"So the first topic being, what are bloodlines exactly and how did they come to be? anyone?" he asked.
A couple of cadets raised a hand but he picked a golden haired girl at the front row. She was the rank 6 cadet, Ashley I think, was her name.
She stood up and began "Bloodlines are the hidden potential and evolution path, locked in the human gene but after the humans at the time of 'The Emergence' were exposed to the residue caused by the event, that potential was unlocked and granted it's holders abilities".
"Correct, what's your name?" he asked her.
"Ashley Wellington".
"Great, allot a hundred points to cadet Ashley Wellington" he spoke to a smart bracelet on his wrist. That was just one of the ways to get points, It was in the academy handbook, an instructor could award you points for doing well in their class.
"Oh come on, a hundred points for what is on the web!?" the idiot beside me grumbled.
"The instructor ignored him and continued "As you heard cadet Ashley say, bloodlines are originally in you, they are just locked, and need a certain stimulus to be unlocked" he said. 'And in my case the stimulus would be.... death?' I thought.
The class went on and to be honest, it was the most interesting class I attended since I came to this academy. I loved learning new things and getting mysteries unravelled. And this class seems to do just that about bloodlines.
It was a two hour class, but the class ended rather quickly to me. Maybe because I was enjoying it. After the instructors left, Owen stood up and said "See you later bud, gotta run". I could see as he walked towards Ashley and it looked like.....wait, were they bickering?'
I averted my eyes from them and also stood up joining the rest of the class to move out, I also haven't encountered Levi since our spar earlier this morning and he also went out the moment the instructors did. I headed for the portal station and soon reached the dorms.
When I entered my dorm room, the sun was still at its peak but it was normal since it was just quarter past 3pm. I then went into the bathroom to get a well needed shower, after all, I did sweat quite a lot in the combat grounds and even though the academy's uniform had a self cleaning, it doesn't extend to the person wearing it.
After my shower, I settled and relaxed on the couch. The academy was nothing like I expected it to be. I expected something like a dark disciplined place that follow rules to the letter but guess I was wrong, it was rather free and not so boring.....well sometimes.
After a while of contemplating about the academy, I stood up and headed for the elevator. I decided to put my points to good use and buy some things, most especially food stuffs and ingredients. Then maybe a clothe or two.
