Chapter 10

Alexa pov

As the sun began to peek through the curtains, casting a warm glow across my room, I stirred awake at the delightful hour of 7 AM. With a yawn that echoed my reluctance to leave the comfort of my bed, I swung my legs over the edge and padded to the bathroom. A refreshing shower was in order; the cascading water enveloped me, washing away the remnants of sleep and awakening my senses to the day ahead.

Once I was dried off and the last drops of water had dripped from my hair, I rifled through my wardrobe to find the perfect outfit to express both my mood and my identity. I pulled on a relaxed, dark top adorned with an eye-catching crimson graphic featuring a blood-red image that hinted at my favorite band—an emblem of my unique style, bold and a little edgy. Pairing it with my black, baggy jeans, which sported a couple of perfectly placed rips at the knees, I felt ready to take on the world. On my feet, I slipped into my favorite black boots, sturdy yet fashionable, and fastened my signature bullet belt around my waist, completing the ensemble.

Before I stepped out, I spritzed on a touch of my favorite perfume—a hint of rebellion and allure in every drop. Bursting with excitement and a small rush of adrenaline, I grabbed my bags and rushed out the door towards the principal's office. The building loomed ahead, and as I approached, I noticed a small desk stationed just outside the principal's main entrance.

Behind that desk sat an intriguing woman with stunning blue eyes that sparkled with a mysterious allure. Her presence was captivating, and despite her role as a receptionist, there was an undeniable charm about her. I couldn't help but notice the subtle mark on her neck, a clear indication of her being mated—a detail that piqued my curiosity.

"Alexa Hunter?" she asked as I approached, her fingers effortlessly dancing over the keyboard. I nodded, still trying to shake off the surprise of her striking appearance. With a swift motion, she retrieved a slip of paper—a timetable—and a small key, handing both to me with an air of efficiency. "This is your timetable and your locker key," she said, her voice smooth like silk. Just as quickly, she returned to her typing, signaling it was time for me to depart.

Unfolding my schedule, I couldn't help but notice I had a couple of hours before my first class began. I seized this golden opportunity as a chance to explore the campus, my heart racing with anticipation. I turned to immerse myself in the sights, the sounds, and the atmosphere around me, the excitement of new beginnings bubbling within.

Suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted as I collided with another student, who seemed to have dashed towards me out of nowhere. "Oh, I am so sorry! I didn't see you there!" he exclaimed, his voice smooth and rich, instantly grabbing my attention. As I looked up, I could immediately appreciate that he was undeniably handsome, with an effortless charisma that might have swept someone off their feet. But I maintained my resolve. After all, he was a wolf—one I had no intention of getting involved with, even if my own nature linked us in some way.

"It's okay," I replied, attempting to brush past him. However, he blocked my path, seemingly oblivious to my discomfort. "Hey, you must be new! Why don't I take you around the school? I don't have class until nine, and, oh, how silly of me—why don't you give me your timetable? That way I can see if we have classes together."

There was something unsettling about him; I noticed his heart rate quicken when he spoke to me, raising several alarms within my mind. It felt as if he was trying to pull me into a game I wasn't interested in playing—and my instincts, both the human and the wolf within me, were both on high alert.

"Thanks, but I'm good," I replied firmly, my tone leaving little room for debate. "I was busy before you interrupted me." With that, I turned on my heel, my steps brisk as I walked away, determined not to let his charm—or whatever it was—shake me. I might be nice by nature, but I also knew when to set boundaries, and right now, I had no interest in letting him breach them.
