Chapter_42_Masters in Music

After grasping what Viviana had just thrown at them, An Mey inquired.

"Then… For money?"

She had this thought before. She also knew that Viviana was casted from a bar. So the possibility that she entered this industry for money was always there.

But…

"Nah…" Viviana shook her head lazily.

That was what An Mey thought. The girl was too indifferent to how much her paycheck was for money being the reason for her to join the industry.

"Then what?" The manager's voice became more aggressive.

"My reason for joining the company is…"

The two women who were sitting opposite to the actress were sucking in their breath as they were waiting for her to reveal the reason. Only for them to be once again disappointed.

"…not important."

"???"

The amount of control An Mey had to stop herself from cursing out at the actress who was now smirking at them slyly as she knew she had played them was commendable. She focused on the topic of discussion.

"Then what about now? Do you still hate acting now?"

This might have been the reason why Viviana was indifferent to the script she was given.

"Honestly. No…"

Vivi rubbed her chin like an old sage as she answered.

"In fact, I might love it… I'm not too sure about it."

"Well… Do you still want to act?" Manager An asked. 'That's what mattered.'

"…"

Viviana went quiet again. She was honestly unsure if she wanted to continue acting or not. She had never thought of becoming an actress to begin with. Let alone debut as a actress.

She felt that she had not yet worked out what had been happening in these two three years in her head yet. And she had never been one to think and plan about the future.

So, when she was asked if she wanted to walk down on this path, she honestly had no idea if she wanted to. But she also did not despise the thought of it.

"I don't know…" She gave her honest reply. "I've never seen myself as an actress to begin with. Still have not…"

An Mey sighed. This conversation was leading nowhere.

"What were you doing before entering the company?"

She changed her question. She was wondering if Viviana would refuse to answer this too when she really gave an acceptable reply.

"I was a student."

"A student?" Elisa voiced out.

Neither Elisa nor An Mey ever imagined Viviana as a student. With her being disinterested in everything except her own gossip, they never imagined her as a student.

'Vivi entered company three years ago and she's 25 now. Meaning she was 22 when she was casted.' Manager An used her brain to calculate. 'If she was a student then… That means…'

"You were in college?" An Mey asked.

"Yeah…"

"What course?"

"Arts." Viviana replied.

Then she added,

"Music."

Elisa and An Mey: "???"

The two couldn't be more surprised at the revelation. They had never imagined Viviana as a college student and even more as a musician.

They'd believe it if someone said that Viviana was an heiress of some rich family. Cause she sometimes acted like a royal highness with her heads held high and uncaringly looking at those around her as though they were peasants.

But at the same time, they had seen her willing to do anything for a pack of sunflower seeds.

The image of Viviana and a musical instrument just didn't pop up in their head. Besides, they never saw her play an instrument or heard of her playing one.

"You did a Bachelor in Music?" exclaimed the assistant.

"No."

"???"

'Are we being played now?' The two thought. But what came out of Vivi's mouth was even more shocking.

"Masters. I did masters on Music."

"!!!!"

An Mey couldn't remain calm anymore. She stood up and slammed her hand on the table.

"Where?" She demanded answers. "Where did you do your masters?"

"That's…." A familiar glint appeared in the actress's eyes once again. "…not important."

Of course, Viviana would not answer the question they were most curious about.

"You're seriously doing this now?" An Mey pointed her finger at the girl.

But the actress suddenly acted innocent, giving her big eyes as she pouted a little.

"Do what?"

An Mey held both of her fists tight as she fanatically waved her hands in the air. Elisa could only watch all this while pouting herself. She had never known that her boss was such a tease before.

After throwing away her frustration, An Mey grasped back her calmness again and met eyes with Viviana who was still basking at the self-satisfaction she got from the frustration she had inflicted.

"Is all what you said the truth?"

"I have no reason to make this up."

"Right."

Manager An nodded at the respond. If anything, Vivi seemed to not want to reveal anything of her past. But this made her question something.

"Does the company know of this?"

"No…" Viviana answered.

The company did not know of what their artist wascapable of? There was no way such a thing could happen. Unless…

"You hid it." It was a statement and not a question. "You hid your education and background, didn't ya? That's why that section is empty in your profile."

Viviana nodded.

"But…Why?"

Elisa, who was listening to everything, couldn't think of a reason why someone who was entering an entertainment company to become an artist would hide her qualifications.

"As I told you before… I had no intention of being a star."

"Yeah. You said you didn't want to be an actress." Elisa repeated.

But Viviana shook her head.

"No. What I meant was I never wanted to be a star. Not just an actress. I didn't want to debut at all… You got what I mean."

The conversation had blown away both An Mey and Elisa's mind a number of times. But this one hid them the hardest. Both of them had thought that by what Viviana meant by not being a star before, she meant that she did not want to be an actress but an idol, by what she said about hating the very thought of being an actress.

But apparently what she meant was that she did not even want to debut at all. She didn't want to step into the industry at all. Then she also said that she didn't do it for money. Neither did she have someone whom she chased after into the industry. So…

'What was someone who didn't want to be in the industry doing that the company being a trainee?'

Now they were even more curious about her reason than before. But sadly, and infuriatingly, Viviana refused to answer the question.
