Chapter 1

The nanny's daughter impersonated me and hooked up with Langdon.

Langdon came to marry me after inheriting the family business.

Fearing her deception would be exposed, the nanny's daughter fled but was accidentally killed in a car crash.

When Langdon found out, he thought I was responsible for her death, but still took me as his bride.

I married into the Langdon family with a joyful heart, only to face countless days and nights of torment.

After my third miscarriage, I finally resolved to bid farewell to my decade-long secret love and left for Ushuaia, said to be the farthest place from New York City.

But on the day of my departure, Langdon, as if gone mad, chased me to the airport begging me to stay.

I'm thirsty and have been calling out for a while, but no one responds.

Nominally, I'm the mistress of this mansion, but everyone knows Meadow is the only wife Langdon has ever truly acknowledged.

I let out a self-mocking laugh. Oh well, I should be used to this by now after all these years.

Every time I go downstairs, I pass by a tightly closed room. For all these years, I've never asked Langdon about it, but this time, for some inexplicable reason, I found myself walking in.

As I pushed open the door, I was greeted by an entire wall covered with photos of Langdon and Meadow together. In the pictures, he's smiling so happily - that's the boy I remember from my memories.

The table is filled with trinkets, each accompanied by a note: "Birthday gift from Meadow", "Reward from Meadow"...

Some look familiar - aren't these the things I thought I had lost before? I assumed I had carelessly misplaced them, never imagining I'd find them here.

Meadow, a name both strange and familiar. She's been dead for almost two years now, and come to think of it, I've been married to Langdon for nearly two years as well.

For these two years, I've been carefully guarding Langdon.I know he likes Meadow, and first love is always beautiful, so I've never exposed Meadow's true nature in front of him.

I also know he blames me for Meadow's death, but I believe that one day, after spending time together, a corner of his heart will belong to me.

Now it's time to let him move on.

I gently caress my belly, a hint of a smile unconsciously tugging at my lips.

Suddenly, someone violently shoves me from behind, and my body crashes uncontrollably into the corner of the table.

Blood slowly trickles down from my forehead, following the contours of my face, flowing into my eyes and mouth, creating a terrifying sight.

"This room was specially prepared by my brother for Meadow. You bitch! Who let you in here?"

It's Summer.

She's the adopted child of the Langdon family, Langdon's sister.

I push myself up from the floor, supporting myself on the table leg, and let out a cold laugh: "Langdon might not know, but don't you understand what kind of person Meadow really is?"

Meadow's mom was my family's housekeeper. My parents were always busy flying around, so you could say I was raised by the housekeeper from childhood.Embracing the 'love me, love my dog' mentality, I've been incredibly tolerant of Meadow.

But it's precisely because of this goodwill that she's grown bold enough to impersonate me in public. She's stolen my clothes to post on social media; photographed my family's mansion claiming it as her own; she's even told Langdon that she's the Carlisle family heiress.

As Meadow's supposed best friend, there's no way she couldn't be aware of all this!

"She impersonated me to deceive your brother, and then worried about being exposed. That's what led to this outcome. Isn't she just getting what she deserves?"

"Smack!" The crisp sound of a slap echoed in my ear.
