Chapter 1
Lisa's POV
"You useless girl!" My father's voice boomed through the small kitchen, making me flinch .
A sharp pain shot through my cheek as his palm connected with my skin.
The force of the heavy slap made me stumble back, but I caught myself against the counter.
"You're weak! Not only are you weak, you are also Worthless! How dare you stand here doing nothing while your stepsister is out there making herself useful!" he spat.
"I.. I was about to start dinner
.." My voice came out small, it was barely above a whisper.
"Dinner?" My stepmother, Lila, scoffed from across the room, her arms were crossed.
Her perfectly curled hair and expensive clothes made her look like a queen standing next to a very ragged servant .
"Do you think that making food will make up for how pathetic you really are?" she sneered.
I lowered my head, with my hands trembling. No matter what I did , it was just never enough.
"Clean this mess up!" My father pointed at the dirty dishes that were stacked up high in the kitchen sink .
"And make sure Olivia has everything she needs for tonight," Lila added. "She deserves the best. Not like you."
I swallowed back the lump that found itself in my throat and nodded in obedience to their words.
I knew better than to argue with them.
I had been treated this way for as long as I could remember.
My father wasn't always like this but since my mom died and he got mated to my stepmom, he has changed.
At first it was all good and rosey, then it just went from good to sour gradually until it became like this.
I couldn't even recognize my father anymore.
He began raising his voice at me and beating me.
I became one who was always unwanted, always hated.
The only reason they even kept me was because of the Alpha.
He had shown interest in me. Me.. an omega. It was so unheard of.
If I became his Luna, my father and stepmother would gain so much status and power.
That was the only reason they hadn't thrown me away like some trash.
But that didn't mean they treated me well.
"Why are you just standing there? MOVE!" my father roared angrily.
I jumped and quickly turned to the sink , scrubbing the dishes as fast as I could. My hands shook, and my eyes burned , but I didn't dare to let a tear drop
Crying only made things worse.
A soft knock came at the door. I stiffened immediately.
"Oh, Olivia! There you are, sweetheart," Lila gushed, while rushing over to embrace her daughter.
Olivia stepped inside, with her long golden hair shining under the kitchen lights, and her perfect lips curling into a smile.
"Hi, Mom. Hi, Dad."
She didn't even glance at me..
"Are you ready for tonight?" Lila asked excitedly.
"Of course. I just came to get my dear sister," Olivia said sweetly.
My head snapped up.
"Me?"
Olivia finally turned to me, with her eyes twinkling. "Yes! You never go out. Come with me tonight. Let's have fun before the Luna selection day!"
I hesitated for a bit.
Olivia and I had always been close growing up .
Everyone called us twins because we looked so much alike , but our lives were very different from each other.
She was the perfect daughter.. The one who was loved by all .
I was the mistake.
The one who was nothing.
"I don't know.."
"Come on!" she pouted. "One night won't kill you."
I glanced at my father.
His glare told me that if I refused, I would regret it.
"Okay," I whispered in response to her request.
"Great!" Olivia clapped her hands. "Let's go."
I followed her out the door, with my stomach twisting with so much unease.
Something just didn't feel right.

THE PACK'S COMMUNITY CLUB
The pack's community club was so loud and crowded. The music blasted through the speakers, people danced so wildly , and the air smelled of sweat and alcohol .
I felt so out of place immediately.
"Relax, sister," Olivia whispered in my ear. "Let's just have some fun."
She handed me a drink.
"I don't drink," I muttered.
"One sip won't kill you."
I hesitated a little bit . My throat was dry, my nerves were on edge. Maybe she was right.
"Come on, sister, you need to have fun for once in your life!"
I stared at Olivia, my stepsister, as she tugged on my arm, dragging me toward the pack's community club. My heart pounded faster and loudly that I could hear it.
The music was extremely loud, the lights were flashing, and the smell of alcohol mixed with sweat made my stomach churn.
"I don't want to be here," I whispered.
"Oh, come on! You're always so boring. Just one night, okay?" Olivia smiled sweetly, but something about her eyes made me feel so uneasy.
I hesitated , as I tried reaching for my phone. I needed to call my mate , the Alpha . But my pockets were empty. My bag.. where was my bag? I searched for it.
"Olivia, have you seen my phone.?"
She blinked innocently.. "No. Maybe you left it at home. Forget about the phone, just enjoy yourself. After all, tomorrow is Luna selection day."
I frowned. My phone usually never left my side.
My mate would be calling soon.
I needed to answer his call.
"I need to go home," I said, while stepping back.
Olivia grabbed my wrist tightly. "Stay. Just for a little while. For me?" She asked in a very polite way, that I couldn't resist helping her.
I sighed. Maybe just a little while.
She handed me a drink. "Here, it will help you relax."
I stared at the glass. I didn't drink. Something felt wrong.
But Olivia was smiling, and watching me closely. My throat was dry. Maybe one sip wouldn't hurt.
I lifted the glass to my lips and took a small sip.
I took a small sip.
Warmth spread through my body, then I felt dizziness. My vision also blurred.
"Olivia.. I don't feel.. good
She grabbed my shoulders. "I'll take you somewhere to rest . Come on."
My legs felt weak. I could barely walk. The room spun around me.
"Olivia.. my phone.. Alpha.. I need..
"Shh, just rest," she whispered.
She led me down a dark hallway, with her grip tightening.
Panic crawled up my throat.
Something was wrong.
I tried to pull away, but my body wouldn't listen.
"You will be fine, sister," Olivia whispered.
She opened a door.
I forced my body to move. I stumbled back. I needed to get out.
I turned and ran. My feet were so unsteady, my heart racing.
I crashed into a door and pushed inside.
A strong scent filled my nose, it was powerful, and intoxicating.
The room was dark, but I felt a presence.
Then, warm, firm hands caught me as I fell.
"Who are you?" A deep, commanding voice rumbled.
I opened my mouth, but the world faded into black.
