Chapter 53: Rain on the Rooftop

Rain fell unexpectedly that evening. We sat on the rooftop, wrapped in a blanket, letting the sound of it fill the silence. It tapped against the tiles and the metal railing, a symphony for two listeners. Your hair was damp, your cheeks flushed, but your smile it outshone everything.

You pulled me closer, placing a kiss on my temple. "Do you remember the first rain we watched together?"

I nodded, smiling. "We weren't even talking back then. Just sharing the same sky."

"And now we share everything," you whispered.

We stayed there until the rain slowed to a whisper. You leaned against me, and I could feel your heartbeat through the fabric between us. In the wash of gray and silver, we found a kind of clarity. Not all moments needed grand declarations. Some were simply about presence about being there through every storm, every quiet, and every sky in between.
