Smelling the strong cologne that was yet refreshing and strong at the same time,Aurora knew who it was.
The room was dark and she quickly switched on her phone torch to see Mateo staring at her.
"Mat"she whispered,
"Why are you still awake?"Mateo frowned,
He didn't expect her to be awake and walking around the school building when vampires were around and she could easily be the next prey.
"I have insomnia"she responded.
Aurora couldn't say she was waiting for him and was worried about him.
Mateo stared at the girl before pulling her towards him wrapping his hands around her.
They stayed for minutes enjoying each others presence forgetting their problems.
"Wish we could stay like this"Mateo muttered
"Same"Aurora whispered.
Mateo had confessed about his interest in her which Aurora didn't reckon on and now her feelings for him were developing drastically.
"Where is Orson?"Aurora asked staring around the darkened room.
"He is in an inn"came the subtle response.
"Does he know about me?"she questioned and Mateo nodded.
Aurora hummed thinking if her grandfather hadn't asked of her.
Mateo stared at the girl seeing her clearly in the dim room due to his vampire eyes.
"You should get some sleep"Mateo offered,
Aurora nodded before a yawn escaped her mouth
She entered the room after saying good bye to Mateo.
The next day,Aurora woke up at the sound of the girls whispering early.
Her eyes lazily opened to see Jennifer on her bed with a book in her hand staring at the book while wearing an headset.
"She is awake"
One of the girl's whispered to the others,
They turned to Aurora who offered them a smile and they just walked away.
Aurora frowned upon their behavior,
"You should care less about them"came Jennifer's vile words.
"Thanks for letting me stay"
She was indeed grateful to Jennifer and wondered how the girl would feel knowing her grandfather caused so many deaths.
She had heard from Mateo how they hadn't let anyone know of Orson's return and her relationship with Orson.
Staring at the girl, she thought on the memories she had received and knowing how much her family meant to her.
"Your mother would be so proud of you"Aurora murmured knowing the girl heard her clearly with her vampire senses.
"You should go home now youngster. Mateo is outside waiting for you"Jennifer stated staring at the girl.
Aurora took her phone and saw text from Mateo knowing the man must be waiting for her.
She immediately got up,thanking Jennifer again with a smile and hurried out.
There Mateo stood wearing a black jacket and leather pants with a black shiny shoe,he had rings on his pierced ear.
His dark arranged hair danced with the wind,
Aurora stood staring at him so as the other students around.
The school had lot of rules and the rules never included Mateo as he made those rules ages ago.
Mateo was one not to ever care about anything,
now his focus was on someone special and he wanted to protect her so much.
Aurora looked around noticing the eyes as she walked up to Mateo.
She never spoke to him in public to avoid rumors spreading around which truly wouldn't be a rumor.
Being in the spotlight was what Aurora never liked and she had always wanted to be in the shadows.
Despite always topping her classes, she never once liked the recognition and attention.
"Miss Ross"someone called from behind,
Aurora turned to see Joshua walking up to her.
"Good morning mr Joshua"she greeted,
"You dropped something"
He handed her an ear ring making Aurora frown to realize her ear ring had fallen off.
"Thank you"she smiled.
Joshua's eyes fell on Mateo who stared at him with disdain while chewing a gum.
Mateo didn't bother greeting the man as he didn't entertain him talking to Aurora.
"There isn't any classes today?"Joshua asked,
His gaze shifted back to Aurora as he arrange his glasses that rested on his nose.
"Yes,I'm tutoring"came Aurora's response knowing the man was curious on Mateo.
She didn't want anything stirring up as Mateo was still a student and she a teacher.
"Okay then,I will leave you now"Joshua gave a smile before glancing at Mateo and left their side.
Aurora turned to Mateo,
"Shall we leave?"Mateo asked,
Aurora stared at him before nodding.
He hopped on his bike with her behind,
She wore the helmet on her head while ignoring the gaze from the students.
"Hold me tight"came Mateo's words.
Soon he left the school premises which was unusual from a student that stays in campus.
North Morsvil high had a rule of not allowing students leave campus which was due to safety reasons but the real reason was avoiding the killings from vampires mostly the rogue.
"Where are we going?"Aurora asked while staring at the road.
She was getting used to riding with Mateo,
he was bringing in a wild side of her.
"You are impatient youngster"came his response.
Soon he stopped his bike at the side of the road before titling his head at Aurora to step down.
"Where are we going?"Aurora asked with a frown,
"To meet Orson"Mateo responded.
She stood still. She was going to meet her grandfather and didn't know how she felt.
Walking through the bushes, she stood close to Mateo.
Soon they got to what looked like an abandoned mansion.
"Is he aware?"Aurora whispered to Mateo as they entered the what seemed like an empty building.
Mateo hummed in response and walked further in the mansion with Aurora behind.
She stared at the huge place bigger than her aunt's home, the mansion's decor was old and rusty and had interiors of the 80s but it was still amazing to stare at.
Aurora stared at the gigantic stairs and soon enough,Orson appeared climbing down.
Aurora stared at the man who was her grandfather but he looked her mother's age or even younger.
