Yuri's POV
"Where is your house anyway? Isn't this embarrassing for your parents? They might get mad. Just drop me off there, and I'll just call someone to pick me up. Blah... blah... blah..."
So annoying! I'm getting irritated with this girl's mouth. I should've just let her swim in the flood.
I still can't believe I waded through the flood just to let her into my car. And now, she's talking nonstop like a machine gun. She's like the female version of Ci-N.
There's no passable road to her place, so even though I don't want to, I have to take her home with me first. We tried looking for another route, but everywhere was still flooded.
"Yuri! By the way, how do you even know where I live?"
I've been there before...
I didn't bother asking her anymore. I just drove, and maybe she noticed we were heading toward her place.
"I only know the village. Ci-N told me," I answered boringly.
She just gave me a short reaction. We're already at the building where I live—an 80-story building that my family owns.
Jay-jay's POV
I just stared at the massive building in front of me. It's so huge! The car we were in suddenly drove straight into the basement of the enormous building.
"Hey! Why are we here? I thought we were going to your house?" I asked, panicked.
"I live here," he answered boredly.
Huh? But this isn't a house! This is a freaking building, man!
Yuri's car stopped beside a bunch of fancy-looking cars. Damn! Yuri's car is nothing compared to these. The one next to his looks like a Ferrari.
"So? Are you just gonna stay there?" he asked.
Turns out he had already stepped out of the car. I quickly followed. No way I was staying behind in the basement alone.
Yuri locked his car and started walking. I followed him, my head turning left and right, taking in everything around me. It was so dark, but there were a lot of expensive cars.
When we got inside the elevator, I couldn't help but ask questions. This place was just too intriguing.
"Uhmm... Yuri, does your whole family own this entire building?"
"Tsk! Baka! (Idiot!) Of course not!"
I shot him a glare. Did he really have to yell?
"You don't have to scream! And what the heck is with this 'baka' thing?! There's no cow here!" I shouted back, rolling my eyes at him.
Through the reflection on the elevator doors, I saw Yuri smirk and shake his head.
Damn, his smile is nice. It's kinda contagious. My eyes trailed to his reflection—his eyes were slightly squinted as he looked up at the top part of the elevator. He wasn't wearing glasses.
Hanamitchi!
Right, this snake is Japanese. His eyes are a little slanted, but the lower part is deep-set. His skin is also so smooth—like he uses some fancy papaya soap or something. His complexion even beats mine.
I snapped out of my daze when the elevator suddenly chimed. The doors were about to open.
And when they did...
JAPAN?!
Wait a minute! Am I going crazy from getting drenched in the rain?
Did this elevator just take us straight to Japan?! Because the place looked like a traditional Japanese home! I even rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn't hallucinating.
The doors were sliding, the floor was wooden, and there were women in kimonos waiting for us.
Oh. My. God.
Yuri stepped out of the elevator, so I followed closely behind him, hiding at his back. I felt like I had entered another world.
"Okaerinasai, Young Master!" the women greeted in unison.
There were about ten of them, all bowing, their hands neatly placed over their stomachs.
They were greeting him like royalty in Japan.
WAIT! Young Master?!
I turned to look at Yuri, who was casually handing his bag and umbrella to one of the women.
"Madam, please remove your shoes," one of the women whispered to me.
I was startled but couldn't move. It was embarrassing. My shoes were still covered in mud.
What the heck?! They speak Tagalog?!
"N-no need... I'm going home soon anyway," I said, pointing at the elevator.
But before I could take a step, Yuri grabbed my arm.
"Remove her shoes and take her things," he ordered the women.
They immediately surrounded me—some taking off my shoes, others grabbing my bag.
"Yuri... What is this? How did we end up here?" I whispered to him.
I was feeling a little nervous. I don't know why, but everything felt so surreal. I guess this is what happens when you're somewhere completely unfamiliar.
Even the atmosphere... it feels like Japan.
"Our house is on the rooftop of the building. And shoes aren't allowed inside, or else Grandpa will get mad," he explained.
Ahh, so that's what this is. For a second, I really thought the elevator teleported us straight to Japan.
Once they took my shoes and things, Yuri pulled me forward. That's when I noticed there was another step before entering the house.
This place is so traditionally Japanese!
There were long hallways everywhere. Lots of rooms, all with sliding doors. We took turns left and right, and eventually, we reached a garden in the middle of the house. There were only a few small trees.
Yuri suddenly stopped when an elderly woman approached him. She was wearing glasses and a kimono, just like the other women earlier.
"Young Master, your grandfather is looking for you," the old woman said, bowing.
"Tsk! Tell him to just go back to Japan!" Yuri snapped.
Wow, this kid is rude!
I immediately smacked him on the head. The old lady was even surprised by what I did. Yuri, on the other hand, was glaring at me as if he wanted to kill me.
"You're rude! Show some respect to your elders!" I shouted at him.
"Do you really have to hit me?!" he yelled back at me. He turned back to the old woman. "I'm just going to take a shower. Don't tell anyone I have a guest."
And once again, he dragged me along.
"My arm is about to come off," I complained.
"Tss."
See that?! Yuri or Keifer?! They're practically the same person! Their tongues must be connected or something because even that was the same!
We turned into another hallway, but this time, there was a staircase in front of us. As usual, he dragged me along without a care.
"Slow down! I'm going to trip!" I shouted.
"Lower your voice! Tanda might hear you!" he shouted back.
Lower my voice?! He's the one shouting!
We entered another hallway after reaching the second floor. But we stopped at the first sliding door. Yuri opened the door and shoved me inside.
The Japanese theme was gone. Now, it just looked like a regular room. The floor was still wooden, though. There was a king-size bed, a study table, a bookshelf, a desktop computer, an electric guitar, and a bunch of other stuff. His room had a brown and coffee-brown color scheme, making it look wooden. A huge curtain reached all the way to the floor, and I assumed there was a big window behind it.
If there was anything left of the Japanese theme, it was probably Yuri's walk-in closet, which he had just entered.
That also had a sliding door. Next to his walk-in closet was the bathroom door. It was brown too, and if it weren't open, I wouldn't have even noticed it was a bathroom.
Yuri came out of the walk-in closet and threw a towel at me.
"Take a shower quickly," he said before leaving the room.
Honestly, I felt awkward. I kind of wanted to just go home. It felt weird being here, especially since I had no idea their house was this big. And it was like a whole Japan thing.
But I already felt so sticky. I might get sick if I don't clean up. So even though I didn't really want to, I entered the bathroom to shower.
It was huge! Was this really a bathroom? It looked like another room! I went straight to the shower.
There were so many bottles of liquid soap. Which one should I use? What if Yuri gets mad if I use one? But this is all there is… Whatever!
I picked the pink bottle. The label said "Sakura." It smelled so nice!
After showering, I suddenly realized… That jerk didn't even give me any clothes!
What now?
I can't just walk around his room in a towel! He left earlier—I wasn't sure if he had come back yet.
I went to the door and slightly opened it.
"Yuri…" I called out.
No answer.
"Yuri…" I called again.
Still nothing.
Okay… Coast is clear!
I gathered my courage and stepped out of the bathroom.
"OH MY FROG!" I screamed.
There were two women in kimonos standing by the door!
One of them stepped forward and offered me the clothes she was holding.
"This is all we have. We don't have anything else we can lend you," she said while bowing.
I took the clothes. "It's okay… Thank you."
"We'll also take your dirty clothes," the other woman said before heading straight into the bathroom.
I couldn't even say anything. They just went in on their own! Then they left right after.
I went back into the bathroom to change. They had given me a gray long-sleeve top and pajama pants. They were big on me, but at least it was better than nothing.
Hiphop!
I stepped out again. Yuri still wasn't back, so I started snooping around his room.
The first thing I went to was the massive curtain that kept his room dark.
I pulled it apart little by little. It was so huge and thick. And then I finally saw what was behind it.
He had a huge balcony! The floor was wooden, and a glass sliding door separated it from his room.
The rain was pouring hard!
It looked like I wouldn't be able to go home. It was only 4 PM, but it already looked like 6 PM because of how dark the sky was.
"Do you like the view?" someone whispered in my ear.
Crap! I couldn't move! The breath of whoever just whispered to me was ice-cold. It gave me chills!
A ghost.
The whisperer suddenly reached for the curtain and shut it, so I turned around to face them.
Ppfftt… Yuri!
He had changed into the same outfit as me—a long-sleeve top and pajama pants. Wait!
I looked at what I was wearing and then at his clothes.
I think I'm wearing his! No wonder it's so big!
