Chapter 1 :Idiot

In fact, when Dwayne Rollin was just born, no one dared to call him an idiot. On the contrary, he was once thought to be very likely a genius of the Rollin family.

Three years ago, after Dwayne emerged from the countess's womb and came into this world, he once gave the maids in charge of the delivery a great fright. Because he neither cried nor made a sound, and he never even needed adults to soothe him. His daily routine was more regular than that of an adult. He woke up at a fixed time every day, opened his mouth to eat at a fixed time, and went to sleep at a fixed time. But apart from opening his mouth to eat, this child almost never made any sound from his mouth. The only thing he did every day was to stare blankly... with a pair of eyes wide open in a daze. He rarely even wet the bed. Because he learned to gently shake the bell beside the cradle. After a long time, every time the bell rang from Young Master Dwayne's cradle, the maid would immediately run to bring him the urinal. Such behavior made the whole family unanimously praise that this young master was so smart since childhood and would surely be a genius of the Rollin family in the future.

Unfortunately, the word "genius" lost its luster on his head in less than half a year... because he couldn't speak. Children of his age could already babble or utter simple sounds like "Daddy, Mommy, pee-pee" at his age. But Young Master Dwayne's mouth seemed to be under a sealing spell cast by a super-powerful magician. No matter how hard the countess tried to teach him to speak until she was hoarse, not even a single note could come out of his mouth. Even a born mute could at least grunt a couple of times, but this young master was as silent as a stone. When he was cold, hot, hungry, or needed to relieve himself, he would only shake the bell.

When he was three years old, the young master still hadn't spoken a word.

The countess invited countless excellent doctors and even several famous magicians to check if her son had been cursed by some kind of magic, but all to no avail. In the end, even the most optimistic countess couldn't help but sigh sadly. It seemed that her son was an idiot.

Fortunately, the three-year-old Young Master Dwayne finally learned to walk. Although he still staggered a bit, in this regard, he was no different from children of the same age. But such a little child who couldn't cry, couldn't laugh, and couldn't speak just stared blankly all day long. There really was no other explanation for him except that he was an idiot.

Moreover, just a month ago, there was suddenly a violent storm. Thunder and lightning flashed in the sky, and the rain poured down so heavily that it was said that the Grand Canal outside the imperial capital almost burst its banks. And a big thing happened in the count's mansion. Taking advantage of the inattentiveness of the maid taking care of him, Young Master Dwayne actually crawled out of the room and stood stupidly in the courtyard in the rain, looking up at the sky. Under the flashes of lightning and the rumbling of thunder in the sky, this child didn't seem to be afraid at all—perhaps an idiot simply didn't know what fear was. Instead, he clenched his two small fists tightly and suddenly let out a loud cry towards the sky!

The young master who hadn't spoken for three years just stood in the rain and shouted like a madman at the bolts of lightning. He let the rain wash over his small body. When the servants found him, he was soaked from head to toe as if he had just been fished out of the water. His whole body was shivering with cold, his face was deathly pale, and his lips were bitten purple.

When the countess, who rushed over upon hearing the news, saw this scene, she fainted on the spot. The servants in the mansion hurriedly carried the young master and the countess into the room. The countess woke up quickly, and she held her fainted son and wept bitterly. The doctor who was called in worked in a flurry for a long time. Various medicines were fed to the child, and two magicians were also invited to use the light healing spell to watch over the son for a long time. But still, the child's body was gradually getting colder.

Immediately, the countess ran to the Temple of the Goddess of Light in the imperial capital like a madwoman. She invited a black-robed priest and asked him to perform the goddess's blessing spell on the child personally. And the countess knelt in front of the statue of the Goddess of Light in the temple for a whole night, constantly praying for her son.

The next day, the child's body finally warmed up, and his life was saved. But he was still unconscious for a day and a night. During the period of his unconsciousness, the countess almost neither ate nor slept while holding her son. Two days later, the countess's delicate and beautiful appearance had become greatly haggard.

Suddenly, Young Master Dwayne spoke in his sleep. With his eyes closed, he mumbled a few syllables as if in a dream. But everyone listened for a long time and didn't know what it meant. It was assumed that this idiot young master still hadn't learned to speak and was just babbling meaninglessly like a baby. However, the countess wept with joy. She leaned over beside the child and listened for a while, and finally, she made out something. Looking back at the group of servants who were as silent as cicadas in winter, she said in a low voice, "Among the servants who usually take care of the young master, is there anyone named Mad?"

The servants looked at each other for a long time. Finally, a brave one stepped forward and bowed, saying, "Madam, it seems that among the people in charge of the young master's daily life, there is no one named Mad..."

Then they searched all over the count's mansion and found a servant named Mad who fed the horses in the stable. He was immediately summoned by the countess.

"My son was calling your name in his dream... Mad... Although I don't know why he called your name, I think this must be a divine revelation given by the Goddess of Light. Blessed by the goddess, from today on, you don't need to feed the horses anymore. Transfer to the young master's side."

Mad was overjoyed at once. He suddenly jumped from being the lowest-ranking groom to being someone by the young master's side in the count's mansion. He seemed to see a shining future waving at him!

However, Dwayne himself in his sleep didn't know that he had just run outside and roared at the sky out of momentary indignation, got caught in the rain, and almost lost his life. He also didn't know that just because he cursed "Damn it" a couple of times while being unconscious, someone benefited greatly from it.

Young Master Dwayne was seriously ill for a whole month. His already weak body as a young child became even more fragile. It was not until a whole month later that some color finally returned to his small face.

However, as always, this young master still didn't speak. Since he woke up, he hadn't uttered a single note from his mouth. Even towards the servant named "Mad" whom he "designated" in his dream, the young master didn't show him any favor. Every day, he just stared blankly as before.

The only difference was that when the maid beside him occasionally mentioned that during his serious illness, the countess had held him for two days and two nights without sleep and had also knelt in front of the statue of the goddess for a whole night... After that, every time the countess came to visit her son, she found that the originally dull look in the child's eyes showed a trace of warmth when he turned to look at her.
