The Break

From a distant view, you could already see the noisy area crowded with police officers and forensic

scientists brushing through every corner to find fingerprints and DNA samples. The loud sirens of

other cop cars arriving were not loud enough to beat the noisy crowd. Blue lights shone from a

distance as the fast-approaching cars arrived. Even though the detectives took off first, somehow,

Jack arguably got to the crime scene before them.

As he bolted the car door open and jumped out, he rushed through the first wave of cops and got a

clearer view of the SUV. All of a sudden, his movement slowed down drastically. He could barely

walk closer. Detective Kerbert rushed past him and went straight for the SUV. As if Jack's rush to

the crime scene was futile. He couldn't move forward. Was it because of the forensic scientists

waltzing in and out of the SUV? Or was it the flashes of cameras sparking out of the SUV, enough to

give you the impression that the pictures were of something inside the SUV-someone? Was it the

cop crying beside the SUV? Or was it... was it... was it the tiny pink shoe he just spotted in front of

the car that looked so identical to the ones he got for his little princess as her birthday gift last year?

Yes, Detective Kerbert beat him to the van, but even Kerbert himself halted in instant shock when

he got to the entrance of the van. He, himself, couldn't move forward anymore. As the world slowed

down and he caught a glimpse of Kerbert's lost gaze, the rowdy area was shut up immediately by

the shrieking and insane scream of what was once a sane person.

"NEVERRRRRRR!!!!

NEVERRRRRRRR!!!

No... no... no...

No... no... NEV... no... NEVERR!! NEVERRRRR!!!!"

Immediately, all eyes turned to Jack. Kerbert snapped back into it because of the scream and stood

still, watching Jack's manic display while managing to stare him in the face from the distance. Jack turned straight to stare back at Kerbert.

As he attempted to run straight for the vehicle, he was focused on and held down by what seemed

to be nearly all the cops and officers beside him. Eleven men were barely enough to keep him

down. As he struggled to break free while shouting beyond the top of his voice, Detective Kerbert

heard the worst questions he had ever been asked in his entire career... in his entire life.

(WHILE SCREAMING)...

"IS MY DAUGHTER IN THERE?!

MOTHERFUCKERS!!

IS THAT MY DAUGHTER IN THERE??!!

LOOK INTO MY EYES!!!

IS SHE IN THERE?????

KERBERT!!!! IS... THAT... MY... DAUGHTERRRR IN THERRRRE??!!!

IS THAT MY DAUGHTER IN THERE???

AHHHHHHHH... AHHHHHHHH... AHHHHHH

AHHHH OHHH GOD.... OHHH GODDD... AHHHHHH"
