At the heart of the story is Selene Valmont, the daughter of a disgraced noble family, and Adrian Lachance, a former soldier-turned-revolutionary who once served her family but now stands against everything they represent.



Years ago, when they were young, Selene and Adrian had an unspoken love. He was the quiet protector, the man who would have given everything for her, but their different stations in life made it impossible. Then the war came, and Adrian vanished-believed dead.
