Caelan glared at me with disgust.
"I only believe what I see with my own eyes."
Faye, sobbing, draped her arm over Caelan's shoulder.
"Forget it, Caelan. If nothing I do can make Serenity accept me, then I'll just leave."
Caelan tenderly rubbed Faye's slightly reddened hand, then whipped his head around to glare at me furiously.
"If only you could be half as obedient and sensible as Faye!"
My face turned cold, a mocking smile curling at the corners of my lips.
"Obedient and sensible?"
"Caelan, you personally ordered the death of my child, and I didn't cry or make a fuss. Wasn't that obedient and sensible enough?"
"I stood by you as you built your business, drinking myself into a stomach ulcer at those business dinners, ending up with late-stage stomach cancer and on the brink of death. Wasn't that obedient and sensible enough?!"
Caelan frowned, a flicker of panic in his eyes quickly vanishing.
"What nonsense are you spouting?"
