Chapter 5

After blocking them, I let out a long, weary sigh.

From my five years in prison until now, everything feels like it's been a dream.

In those five years, they've managed to settle down and build lives for themselves.

But for me, it's been like living through a nightmare, day after agonizing day.

Even though time flew by in the blink of an eye, when I look back carefully, I'm still filled with regret.

How soft-hearted I must have been back then to agree to such a ridiculous thing as taking his place in jail.

But even so, they haven't kept a single promise they made to me.

I'm still all alone in this world.

Life after prison hasn't turned out the way I imagined it would.

Perhaps it was all wrong from the very beginning.

Before I went to prison, Melody came to see me.

She was angry and frustrated, "Taking his place in jail isn't worth it. You'd be better off working for me, I wouldn't treat you badly."
