Chapter 18 : The Vampire’s First Date

Two Days Later, Friday.

Kojou was wearing black casual pants with a long-sleeved white blouse, along with a men's solid knitted sweater, a black short-sleeve casual jacket, and stylish white sneakers.

But that wasn't all—he also wore a watch on his left wrist and a necklace carrying a Storage Ring, and for once, his hair was neatly styled, a stark contrast to his usual messy look.

If any of his acquaintances saw him now, they wouldn't recognize him. The handsome man standing there was completely different from the usual Akatsuki Kojou, who never cared about his appearance and always wore a lazy, foolish expression.

While many wouldn't recognize him, there were still those who would know him no matter how much he changed his appearance. And the girl walking toward him was one of those people—someone who could pick him out of a crowd even in his current state.

"Sorry, did you wait long?" Asagi said as she stood in front of Kojou. She wore a white one-shoulder dress with matching white high heels, her nails painted pink. Her hair was styled as usual, but her beauty stood out more than ever.

"No, not too long," Kojou shook his head, staring at Asagi in slight awe. "But I have to admit, the wait wasn't for nothing. You're even more stunning than usual today."

Kojou was sincere in his opinion—this wasn't just flattery. Asagi was always beautiful, but today, it was clear she had put in extra effort to look her best.

"And you look quite handsome when you actually try," Asagi replied, her face reddening from Kojou's compliment. She wasn't used to seeing him this refined.

"Well, I'm going on a date with a beautiful girl like you, so I had to put in some effort to match you properly," Kojou smiled, offering his hand elegantly. "Shall we go, my princess?"

"Of course," Asagi nodded, her face still flushed. She felt like her heart might explode seeing Kojou acting like a prince on a white horse. Happily, she placed her hand in his.

"Then let's head to our first destination," Kojou smiled, intertwining his fingers with Asagi's as they began walking. "We're going on a boat tour."

Though Kojou had no dating experience, he had researched extensively online and chosen activities he thought Asagi would enjoy. Truthfully, he wasn't entirely sure what he was doing.

So, he decided to start with a popular boat tour, where they could see many beautiful Demonic Beasts along the way.

Three Hours Later.

After the boat tour, they visited a museum filled with ancient artifacts and famous paintings. Once they'd explored the exhibits, they browsed shops selling things Asagi liked before heading to lunch at a restaurant inside an aviary—though a glass wall separated the diners from the birds.

"I had so much fun," Asagi smiled, reminiscing about their day. "Especially seeing the Demonic Beasts—it was amazing. This was my first time seeing creatures like that."

"Well, it was my first time too, and I have to admit, they were a sight to behold," Kojou nodded, equally impressed by the beauty of the sea demons.

"And the terrified look on your face when we saw those Vampire-hunting tools was hilarious," Asagi teased, laughing as she recalled Kojou sweating bullets at the sight of the weapons.

"That's not my fault! Those things gave me chills just looking at them," Kojou frowned, shuddering at the memory. "I'm pretty sure those weapons are haunted by vengeful spirits."

"You might be right. A lot of ancient Vampire-slaying weapons were cursed," Asagi mused. Unlike Kojou, she knew a lot about history. "But I doubt a few cursed blades would be enough to kill a Primogenitor—someone cursed with immortality by the gods themselves."

"They might not kill me, but getting stabbed by one would still hurt like hell," Kojou grumbled. Even an immortal Vampire could feel pain.

After this lighthearted exchange, a comfortable silence fell between them as they sipped hot chocolate, watching the beautiful birds through the glass.

"Kojou… are you forcing yourself for my sake?" Asagi asked. Though she'd enjoyed their outings, these weren't the kinds of places Kojou usually liked. "As happy as I am that you're trying so hard to make me happy… I don't want to be the only one enjoying myself."

"Well…" Kojou hesitated, nearly choking on his hot chocolate. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't have fun, but that doesn't mean I was bored. Just seeing you happy makes me happy."

He was sincere—this date was for Asagi's sake, and her joy was enough for him.

"Kojou…" Asagi was deeply moved, reassured that she hadn't been wrong to give her heart to this man. It was clear how much he cared for her.

"By the way, there's something I want to talk to you about," Kojou said, his embarrassed expression shifting into seriousness.
