Chapter 66 Help Me[Part 5]

The woman lying on the hospital bed was frail and pale. Hearing footsteps, she lifted her head to see who it was.

It was none other than Chu Han and Zhou Yi.

Chu Han rushed over and carefully embraced her, tears streaming down her face once again.

"Mom, I'm here."

Chu Yun patted her back gently and said, "Don't cry, my dear. Everything will be fine."

Though she tried to comfort her daughter, her own eyes began to glisten with unshed tears.

How could she leave her only child behind in this world? If she passed away now, what kind of life would her daughter have?

Chu Han knew her mother was merely trying to reassure her. She wiped away her tears and forced a smile. "Mom, don't worry. The doctor said that as long as you undergo surgery and chemotherapy properly, there's still hope for recovery."

Chu Yun gave a bitter smile. But where would they get the money for treatment? What little savings she had left were meant for Chu Han's education.

Ever since receiving the diagnosis, Chu Yun had already resigned herself to death. She didn't want to burden anyone—especially not her beloved daughter.

"And who is…?" Chu Yun asked when she noticed Zhou Yi standing beside them. Her surprise was evident; she couldn't help but wonder which wealthy family this young man came from—and why he was with her daughter.

Chu Han wiped her tears and explained, "Mom, this is Zhou Yi. You even invited him over for dinner once, remember?"

At the mention of that familiar name, Chu Yun was genuinely shocked. Could this refined young man really be Zhou Yi? He had changed so much!

"Xiao Yi, you've grown up so much that Auntie didn't recognize you at first. Please forgive me," Chu Yun said apologetically.

"It's alright, Auntie," Zhou Yi replied warmly.

Chu Yun gestured for both of them to sit by her bedside. Holding her hand tightly, Chu Han reassured her, "Mom, don't worry about the money. Someone has agreed to lend us the funds we need."

"Who?" Chu Yun asked, incredulous.

"It's Zhou Yi," Chu Han answered.

Chu Yun looked at the elegant young man before her. Was he truly from some affluent family?

Zhou Yi spoke up at just the right moment. "Auntie, please don't worry about the money. Hanhan and I are good friends. I can lend you the amount without any hesitation."

"Do your parents know about this? This is a significant sum of money, young man," Chu Yun pressed, her voice tinged with concern.

"They do. Please rest assured," Zhou Yi responded calmly, offering her a soft smile.

As Chu Han watched Zhou Yi speak so kindly to her mother, a mix of guilt and admiration welled up inside her. Here was someone so generous and compassionate, yet she had once judged him based solely on material wealth.

Chu Yun was deeply moved, struggling to find the words to express her gratitude. After all, Zhou Yi wasn't related to their family, and such a large sum of money wasn't something one casually offered. Yet here he was, extending his help without hesitation.

Tears brimming in her eyes, Chu Yun grasped Zhou Yi's hands and thanked him repeatedly.

As night fell, Zhou Yi turned to Chu Han. "I'll transfer the money to your account tonight. I have another engagement, so I must take my leave now."

Chu Yun urged her daughter, "Go and see him off."

Chu Han accompanied Zhou Yi to the hospital entrance to hail a taxi.

"Thank you so much, Zhou Yi. I promise I'll work hard to repay you—not just for this loan, but also for everything else I owe you," Chu Han said earnestly.

"You're only a sophomore. There's no rush. Focus on graduating and building your career. Don't waste your time worrying about repayment right now," Zhou Yi replied gently.

Chu Han's eyes reddened once more. "After everything I've done to you, why are you still helping me?"
