Sophia pulled back, her hands lingering on David's shoulders, while his remained on her waist. Her cheeks flushed, she gazed up at him with a bright smile.
"Where have you been all these years?" she asked, her voice filled with curiosity and excitement.
Sophia and David were high school lovers, and they have have known each other since childhood. As they navigated the ups and downs of their childhood till their adolescence stage together, their friendship blossomed into something more.
Their first date was a nervous affair, with David picking Sophia up from her house and taking her to the local park for a sunset picnic. As they sat on a blanket, watching the stars twinkle to life, they both knew that there was something special between them.
Throughout high school, Sophia and David were inseparable. They studied together, explored their hometown, and supported each other through thick and thin.
Sophia was the captain of the debate team, while David was the star player on the soccer team.
Their love was the kind that made their friends roll their eyes in envy. They were each other's rock, supporting and encouraging each other to pursue their dreams.
But as graduation approached, the reality of their impending separation began to sink in. Sophia had been accepted into a prestigious university on the other side of the country, while David had decided to stay closer to home and attend college
They both knew that their relationship would be put to the test, but they were determined to make it work. They promised to stay in touch, to Skype each other every night, and to visit each other whenever possible.
But as the months went by, the distance began to take its toll. They both got busy with their respective college lives, making new friends and pursuing new interests. The Skype calls became less frequent, and the visits were few and far between.
Sophia and David's love didn't die, but it did fade into the background of their lives. They both knew that they still cared deeply for each other, but they couldn't seem to bridge the distance between them.
Years went by, and Sophia and David went their separate ways. They built new lives, made new friends, and even explored new relationships. But the memory of their high school love never truly faded.
And then, one day, they found themselves standing face-to-face in the university library, the spark between them still palpable.
David grinned. "I've been keeping busy. I went to college, got a job... you know, the usual."
Sophia's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "That's not the usual," she teased. "You were always destined for great things, David."
David chuckled, feeling a sense of nostalgia wash over him. "You always knew how to make me feel good, Sophia."
David's eyes widened in surprise as he stared at Sophia. "But wait, I thought you were studying abroad?" he asked, his voice filled with confusion.
Sophia chuckled and shook her head. "I was, but I transferred back here," she explained, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
David's brow furrowed. "What? Why? I thought you were going to spend the next few years studying in Europe?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.
Sophia shrugged. "I did, but I realized that I missed my family and friends too much. Plus, I wanted to be closer to home for personal reasons," she said, her voice tinged with a hint of nostalgia.
David's eyes locked onto hers, searching for more information. "Personal reasons?
Everything okay?" he asked, his tone softening with concern.
Sophia smiled and nodded. "Yeah, everything's fine. I just needed to come back, that's all," she said, her eyes sparkling with a hint of mystery.
David nodded, still looking puzzled. "I see. Well, I'm glad you're back. ,everything has been different since you left " he said, his voice filled with sincerity.
"What do you mean?" Sophia pressed, her eyes searching for answers. "I don't know, it's just that everything changed since you left.
I felt lost without you. The memories we made together are still here, but it's not the same without you. i mean, you were my person, my partner in crime. Without you, everything feels off-kilter. It's wasn't just the same without your laughter, your smile, and your presence," David said, his words pouring out of his heart.
Sophia's cheeks flushed, and she looked away, trying to hide her smile. "Thanks, David. It's good to be back," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Sophia's smile faltered for a moment, and she looked away, her voice barely above a whisper. "I've thought about you a lot over the years, i have missed you so much, she confessed, her words tinged with a mix of sadness and longing. "I never knew if I'd ever see you again, or if you'd even remember me."
She paused, collecting her thoughts before continuing. "I've often wondered what we could have been, what would have happened if we had stayed in touch." Sometimes i even wished life could take us back to the start.
Her eyes drifted back to David's, searching for answers. "But I guess life had other plans, and we went our separate ways."
David's expression softened, his eyes filled with empathy and understanding.. "I've thought about you too, Sophia," he said, his voice low and husky. He then reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair behind Sophia's ear, his touch sending shivers down her spine.
"But here you are, standing in front of me, and it feels like no time has passed at all." Her voice trembled slightly as she spoke, revealing the depth of her emotions.
David's heart skipped a beat as he heard the emotion in her voice. He reached out, gently turning her face back towards him.
As they hugged, their eyes locked in a tender gaze. David wrapped his arms around Sophia's waist, pulling her close.
He whispered softly, his warm breath caressing her ear, "I've missed you too, I thought about you everyday, wondering where life had taken you."
His voice was laced with emotion, and Sophia's heart skipped a beat.
Their foreheads touched, and David's warm breath sent shivers down Sophia's spine. Her body trembled with anticipation, and her lips parted slightly, inviting David's kiss.
Just as their lips were about to brush against each other, the library's lights flickered, casting shadows on the walls.
