Jasmine finished her shift and went home. What a day it had been. It was all a blur after that Jack guy. What he had said to her… She shuddered. She was anxious about getting home to her sister Jailee. Hopefully her older sister Jauslynn had taken care of her properly and well. Not that she doubted her sister, but it was hard to care for a loved one who could do nothing for themselves. She sighed.
Driving home was but a blur. She barely remembered pulling into the drive. Getting out of the car and approaching the two bedroom apartment they shared together Jasmine thought back to simpler times. Times to when adulting was a wonderful excitement that they wanted to endure. Not now though. Now they wanted to go back to childhood. Back when running and playing were their only concerns.
Coming up to the door she slid the key home and twisted it. It was a wonder the chips and cracks in the door kept any of the cold in, in the summer, and the warm in the winter. This is what they could afford though. Sure, their cousins, who was she kidding her brothers, had opened their homes up to them as did the rest of their family, but they didn't want to be a burden. The family wouldn't see it that way, but they did. Chemo treatments weren't cheap and Jauslynn was struggling to get her hair salon business up and going. She cut hair from home so she didn't have to leave Jailee, and that made in inconvenient for people as most would rather go to a place of business.
If Jailee weren't in need she would encourage Jauslynn to go try out for doing theatrical makeup for movies and stuff. Just as Jauslynn had encouraged her to become a nurse. She was an amazing big sister.
Jasmine went through the door and went to the room Jailee was staying in. She looked at her sister and smiled. She put her hand on her head.
What Jasmine couldn't see was the light that enveloped her body. She felt a shift in herself, but admittedly didn't know what it was. All she knew as she felt compelled to say the word Jack insisted that she say.
She closed her eyes and whispered with authority, "Amen."
Jasmine opened her eyes and heard something behind her. Turning around she saw Jauslynn at the door looking more tired than usual. "I made supper." She smiled weekly.
"You know you didn't have to." Jasmine said sympathetically.
"What kind of sister would I be if I didn't?" She smiled again. Then the smile turned to shock, and Jasmine spun around.
The color of Jailee's skin was regaining its color. It started with her head and worked it's way down. Her breathing became more steady and less labored. The heart monitor that she was hooked up to showed that her heart rate had stabled. Jasmine looked down to her feet as the last bit of color filled her skin.
Jailee's voice came then, causing them both to jump. "Why the long face guys?"
Jailee sat there smiling. She reached up and took the oxygen mask off and undid the heart monitor straps and the IV out of her arm. She ignored the wheelchair that was beside her bed and for the first time in the last couple of years of her decline she stood. Jasmine rushed to her aid, but Jailee put her hand out clearly not needing the help.
Jauslynn stood their dumbfounded. Jasmine was the only one with an inkling of what was going on. Jauslynn finally managed, "How?"
Jasmine smiled and retold the events of earlier that day. She told them about the miraculous healing of this man named Jack and how he had spoken into her life. How he had known about Jailee and what he had told her to do. She told them about her doubts that it would work, but she had a shred of faith that it would work. They knew God worked in mysterious ways so why not this way.
"I'm going to take some vacation time. We should go do something together. Maybe even ask Tyler and Cody if they want to join? What do you say?" Jasmine said with enthusiasm.
"I'm in!" Jailee yelled, wanting to do anything and everything except to lay down in that bed another second.
Jauslynn looked from sister to sister. Tears filled her eyes and she cried, "Of course I'm in! Let's call them!"
So, they did. Jasmine couldn't wait for Jack to come back to the hospital. To tell him all that happened and what he had done for them. She also sent a prayer up to God thanking Him and rejoicing Him for saving her sister. That He hadn't taken her yet. It was an interesting and good day indeed, she thought to herself.
