Chapter 9

Cynthia opened the door and pulled her mother into the living room just as her grandfather and father were sitting and talking. She pretended to be pitiful and ran to sit next to her grandfather, crying:

"I'm still young, it's a pity that I got married too early, I didn't have time to repay my grandfather and parents. I still want to stay and take care of everyone. Rosabella has worked hard in the past, and now she has a good chance to marry into a rich family, I don't want to fight. Or should I let Rosabella replace me as the daughter-in-law of the Romano family?"

Cynthia looked pitiful, crying and choking. Mr. Zohar objected:

"No, Rosabella has suffered a lot since she was young, she has worked hard for this family for many years. She can't be married off."

Lawrence interjected to defend her daughter. "After all, Rosabella is already twenty-three years old this year, so she can get married, but Cynthia is only twenty years old, still young and immature."

Dawson Brown was also shocked to hear his wife and daughter say such words, so he objected: "No, this is a marriage contract between two families, so Rosabella can't participate in it."

"So you and Grandpa would rather let me suffer, to protect Rosabella." Cynthia jumped up.

Seeing this, Mr. Zohar also felt sorry for his granddaughter, he also didn't want to let his granddaughter suffer. Moreover, City A was quite far from City B, if she got married, she would see her less. He sighed and slowly said:

"Alright, if you don't want to marry into the Romano family, then we'll cancel the engagement. There's no way Rosabella can replace Cynthia."

"We can't break off the engagement, Grandpa..." Cynthia said in panic.

At that moment, Rosabella returned to the front yard. Cynthia ran out, hugged Rosabella, and cried. Rosabella hurriedly asked:

"Cynthia, what's wrong? Are you not feeling well?"

Cynthia was still crying, and quickly pulled Rosabella: "You come with me."

Rosabella felt that today was a bit unusual. Cynthia suddenly became gentle towards her. When she entered, Rosabella glanced at everyone and guessed that something had happened. Seeing everyone's sad faces, Cynthia also cried, so she asked:

"Grandpa, Mom, and Dad, is there something wrong with us?"

Lawrence was also especially gentle today, unusual, she gently said:

"Rosabella, you came back at the right time. Come and sit down. You've worked hard, drink some water."

Cynthia knelt beside Rosabella, holding her hand, crying and choking:

"Sister, you've worked hard, now it's your time to enjoy happiness. When you marry into the Romano family, you won't have to do anything, just eat well and dress well. Right?"

No one is naturally good. Everything has its reasons. Rosabella was surprised:

"Why did I marry into the Romano family? It's an engagement between you and Dominic."

Cynthia couldn't be patient anymore, it was not easy to pretend to be a good person, so she jumped up and said: "Yes. An engagement between two families, you are the eldest daughter of the Brown family, of course, you have to get married."

"But..." Rosabella sobbed, choking and unable to speak.

Lawrence quickly grabbed Rosabella's hand, slowly continuing:

"You came to my house when you were not even two years old, it's been more than twenty years. We didn't give birth to you, but we raised you. Right? Now it's time for you to repay our family."

Rosabella burst into tears, tears streaming down her face, she knelt and begged: "I will try to earn money to support my family, but please don't force me to get married."

"Stop, don't force her anymore." Dawson stopped.

Lawrence still brushed it off and continued:

"The bank loan is about to be paid, if not paid, this house will be sealed. Can you bear to see our whole family living on the street?"

Cynthia held her sister's hand tightly, glaring at her, each word was sharp:

"As long as you marry Dominic, the engagement money will be enough to pay off the bank loan, you will also get 5% of the shares of Romano Group."

Rosabella knelt on both knees, clasped her hands, bowed her head, her eyes filled with tears, her body trembling, she continued to say:

"I will try to earn enough money to pay off the bank loan on time. Please, don't marry me off. Okay? Okay?"

Lawrence still didn't let go. She had never treated Rosabella well. She pretended to cry miserably:

"Rosabella, where did you get such a large sum of money? Even if you worked a few more jobs, it wouldn't be enough to live on. Now you have no choice but to marry Dominic to keep this house."

"Enough, don't force her anymore." Mr. Zohar shouted.

Rosabella couldn't believe her ears anymore, she fell to the ground, tears still falling, her hands and feet trembling non-stop. It was too unexpected. She felt like she was being crushed, everything around her turned against her. The air was suffocating at this moment, she couldn't breathe. If she didn't get married now, she wouldn't have money to pay off the debt, what would happen to her family? Grandpa was already old and weak, her father couldn't walk, what would happen to her mother and Cynthia?

Mr. Zohar hurriedly helped his granddaughter up, and gently stroked her hair, tears falling. Rosabella looked at the old man who was bending over, she closed her eyes and said:

"I agree to marry Dominic."

"Are you serious?" Cynthia asked excitedly.

"Yes," Rosabella replied in a choked voice. After all, she had broken up with her boyfriend, it didn't matter who she married.

"Very well, I don't need to marry that cold guy anymore, our family still has money." Cynthia happily hugged her mother. The mother and daughter danced happily.

"Rosabella, do you need to reconsider?" Dawson looked at his daughter and asked.

"Rosabella, if you don't want to, we will cancel the engagement." Mr. Zohar slowly spoke to his granddaughter affectionately.

Rosabella bowed her head, gently wiped her tears, tried to smile, and looked at her grandfather and father:

"No need, I agree."
