When the sun shined out of the window, a young lady with smooth jade skin and of tall stature woke up from her dream.
She was confused for a second before her memories were fully digested.
"How can this be-" she exclaimed, before shutting her mouth, knowing that if she was too loud, it would attract the servants outside the door.
Instead, she began to think, nearly scream inside 'Why! Why does this happen to me! Out of the many books I read, why did it have to be this!'
She nearly went mad.
In her dreams, she was a different figure, her name was the same, Yu Lingshe. It's unknown whether her parents wanted to name her beautiful or treacherous, after all, a 'Jade Spirit Snake' sounds like a beautiful deathly creature that would deceive one into their afterlife.
That figure worked a normal job, her age was blurry, but it seemed to be reaching thirty. She would read many romance books – for no other reason than to escape reality. When one works a boring job, one has to find exciting things outside, else they will… well, it wouldn't be good.
Having read so many books, she naturally read a few 'trashy' novels, such where the main character simply got everything by laying down, not doing anything, and still complaining about the people around her.
There was one such book that was even worse than the average trashy book one would read to pass time. This book truly angered her. The main character of that book was called 'Shui Liuniu', once again a weird name. Her pseudo-guessing made her think that her name was River Cow. Maybe water cow, she wasn't sure, names were sometimes complicated.
This wasn't he point – the point was that she was a horrible person who got everything gifted, by the world and the people around her. Yu couldn't hold on reading, after her favourite character, the third female lead with the same name died, she didn't want to read any longer.
The story began in the cultivation world, where Shui Liuniu was a princess of a small clan. She had an accident and was found by the second male lead who helped her. He fell in love with her and, with the goal of winning her heart, pumped her with resources.
She was born with a good spiritual root, a water-earth root. Although the elements didn't support each other, it is a double spirit root, better than three roots. With the help of the second lead, she cultivated until the foundation building stage.
At this point, the second male lead took her to join the sect he belonged to, she instantly became an inner disciple with her cultivation and his families' support, who intended to invest into her talent.
She continued to progress and when she was in the late stage, she met the second and third female lead, as well as the third male lead. These three, along with others, ascended to the middle world. They themselves were born in a lower world, where there were barely any cultivators.
Only occasionally would cultivators open the passage to recruit disciples.
In fact, this world is the world where Yu Lingshe was currently – it was similar to earth, called Blue Star, only that it seemed to only have one culture throughout the world, unlike her previous one with many cultures and countries.
Regardless, the important point was that this world was also very backward, stuck in the past with emperors, ministers, generals, scholars and martial artists. Only, there is a very thin amount of spiritual power, which allowed these to cultivate.
These three all had good talent. The third lead's root was never revealed, only mentioned as a mutation of the wood spiritual root. Some other readers speculated about it, but the elements were somewhat special in that novel, the only interesting part in that dramatic story.
The second female lead had a special fire-wood spiritual root, which was very suitable for alchemy. Her roots are also very compatible, and she should have been stronger than the female lead… but she basically gave up all her resources every time she was deceived by the first female lead. In the end, she even sacrificed herself, dying unexpectedly before her talent blossomed.
As for the third male lead, when she thought of him, Yu Lingshe nearly vomited. This guy was truly the worst. Like the second lead, he fell head over heels for the female lead, but he was scrupulous, not a generous lover like the second lead. Instead, he would force her to do things and killed left and right when he wasn't happy. He had a fire-thunder spiritual root – because of his talent, the upper people tolerated his behaviour, until he was killed by the male lead himself.
Anyways, this was just a character to disgust others – this was the role of the third leads. The second leads were supposed to help the protagonists in their early journey and push them together, then they would lose their importance and become attendants, or sacrifice themselves for the main character.
She herself… was jealous of the female lead and loved the second lead. She tried hard to win him over, but he wouldn't budge, even when the female lead found her male lead. Her talent was good, and she was a strong women and stubborn woman, so she wanted to compete up front with this female lead.
Unfortunately, this was rejected, and she was deceived into working for her to sow love from the second lead. She worked hard and survived even longer than the second female lead and the third male lead, until she reached the nascent soul stage.
At this point, she thought she had won over the second lead. After all, he was in the same realm as her, while the two leads were already in the spirit transformation realm, ready to ascend at any time. She was close to him and told him many of her secrets… even about her ancestral heirloom!
In fact, the world she was from wasn't low at the beginning – instead, it was an upper world that fell into the dharma ending stage. Most things were taken, but a few family heritages were left, some explored and others hidden, waiting until a worthy descendant could start cultivating.
Her Yu family was one such family… it was a family of immortals! The immortal world is vast with many stages, her Yu family might not be an outstanding family in the immortal world, but since it was clan, it meant that they truly had claimed a part of the immortal world for themselves, no matter how small.
At least there were never any talks about the immortal world. Because, after learning of the heirloom, the second lead still thought of the female lead and told her about this secret. The female lead was jealous that a person she always saw as lower had such a precious thing, so she snatched it by force and killed her suddenly. Thinking of this heirloom, she also killed the second male lead, who was greatly shocked.
The male lead himself seemed to approve of this. From then on, Yu Lingshe stopped reading – such a protagonist was worse than any she had read about. Look at this beautiful third female lead!
Although the author tried to portray her as a horrible vixen that attempted to steal the female leads backup man, many readers didn't think she was wrong, but they didn't like her that much either.
After all, one man's trash is another's treasure, but readers generally didn't like trash pickers.
Now, Yu Lingshe was the trash picker!
