The city of Neo-Terra was unlike anything Gabriel had ever seen. Towering skyscrapers pulsed with magical energy, hovering vehicles zipped through the skies, and people wore mechanical exosuits engraved with glowing runes. It was as if magic and science had fused into one.
His head spun as he followed the woman—who introduced herself as Captain Aurelia Voss—through the bustling streets. Every person he passed had small floating screens around them, displaying stats similar to his own.
"This world operates on a system," Aurelia explained as they walked. "Everyone is assigned a class when they awaken their abilities. Some become Artificers, capable of creating magical machines. Others become Spellblades, combining combat and magic. And then there are Scholars, who decipher the language of the System itself."
Gabriel frowned. "And me? I'm… 'Unawakened.'"
"For now," she said. "But the fact that the System accepted you means you have potential. You just need to unlock it."
She stopped in front of a massive floating tower, its spire piercing the sky. The entrance was guarded by mechanical constructs, their bodies covered in glowing sigils.
"This is the Academy of Arcane Engineering. If you want to survive in this world, you'll need power."
Gabriel clenched his fists. He had spent his whole life powerless, starving, struggling to live. If this world was offering him a chance to change that, he wasn't going to waste it.
"I'm in," he said.
Aurelia grinned. "Good answer."
