Chapter Seventeen

Just as Lydia’s eyes began to flutter shut, a voice gently broke the silence.

“Umm… Lydia?”

She let out a soft, tired hum in response, not bothering to open her eyes.

Scott cleared his throat. “My mom… she’s decided we’re going on a honeymoon. To the Maldives.”

Lydia’s eyes snapped open instantly. She sat upright in disbelief. “What??”

Scott looked up from his laptop, meeting her shocked expression.

“She said we’re spending three weeks there. And, uh… she made it very clear that by the time we return, she expects you to be pregnant,” he added carefully.

Lydia gasped, utterly stunned. “Oh. My. God. My day just keeps getting more ridiculous, doesn’t it?” she exclaimed, standing up from the bed with wide eyes.

Scott ran a hand through his hair. “I didn’t know either. She only called me this afternoon. Apparently, she’s already booked the flights, accommodations—everything. And, um… we’re leaving tomorrow.”
