My husband and I are expecting a baby at the same time as my mother-in-law, but he seems more invested in her pregnancy than mine.
He's not only over the moon about it, but he's also asking me to quit my job to take care of her.
I thought he was just a mama's boy, until I saw him caressing her slightly swollen belly, calling the baby "son" with a beaming smile.

"Instead of wasting time insulting me, you should be thinking about how to explain this to your father. I don't think your plan to take over the company, marry your sweetheart, and then kick me out with nothing is going to work out anymore!"


With that parting shot, I hung up the phone. I wasn't worried about Gunner coming after me because right after the incident, I had taken leave from work and flown abroad for a vacation.


The company executives were sympathetic to my situation and quickly approved my time off.


I was leisurely enjoying my vacation overseas when, to my surprise, I received another message from Gunner just two days later. He said he wanted to meet and discuss our divorce properly.


I was a bit confused. Did he really have the energy to deal with our divorce right now? Either way, while he might have time, I certainly didn't. I told him to draft up a contract, and we'd discuss the rest after my vacation.
