Melody crawled out from under the bed, disheveled and embarrassed. Although the room was spotless and there was no dust under the bed, the humiliation of hiding in that dark space for so long left her feeling angry and exposed.


Enraged, she grabbed a decorative object from the nightstand and hurled it at Gunner, screaming, "Gunner! You knew I was hiding under the bed. Why didn't you get rid of that bitch sooner? Instead, you were all sweet-talking her right in front of me. Are you trying to kill me with anger?"


The hard object grazed Gunner's head, cutting his forehead. Blood immediately began to seep out. But he didn't even notice the pain. He rushed to calm her down, saying, "Baby, I was just putting on an act with Olivia so she wouldn't suspect anything. The timing isn't right yet. If we're found out, we're done for! Think about it – if Dad discovers what's going on between us, he'll destroy us both!"
