Because of a terminal cancer report, my boyfriend of five years proposed to the fake heiress.
My whole family stood on her side, scolding me for being inconsiderate.
"Scarlett's biggest dream is to have a perfect wedding. Can't you be more understanding?"
Later, I was hit by a speeding car. As I lay in a pool of blood, I begged him to save me.
But he remained unmoved, "Next time, look carefully when crossing the street."
I decided to leave with a heavy heart, but he found me.
With tear-filled eyes and a voice full of regret, he said, "Melody, I'm sorry. I didn't know that report was yours. Can you forgive me?"

At Mr. Harrington's engagement party - my engagement party - he gets down on one knee before Scarlett, ring in hand.
"Will you marry me?"
"I will."
They embrace passionately as everyone cheers for them.
Everyone except me, standing off to the side like an outsider.
Mr. Harrington, my boyfriend of five years, just proposed to my sister right in front of me.
"Mr. Harrington, what are you doing?"
I rush over to confront him. Mr. Harrington carefully shields Seraphina behind him.
"Melody, can't you be more mature about this? Having a perfect wedding is Scarlett's biggest dream!"
He speaks with such righteousness, as if I'm the villain ruining their happiness.
Scarlett peeks out from behind Mr. Harrington, looking at me with a face full of guilt.
"Sis, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to steal Mr. Harrington from you."Looking at her face, I felt a surge of fury rising within me.
She had stolen my identity, living comfortably in the Gevano family for twenty years.
Now that I've returned, she's even taken my boyfriend away.
Blinded by rage, I lunged forward and grabbed her by the collar.
"Why?"
Seeing her crying uncontrollably, Mr. Harrington slapped me across the face.
"Are you done making a scene?"
His face was filled with anger. In our five years together, he had never lost his temper with me like this.
Yet now, for Scarlett's sake, he had publicly slapped me.
Holding my reddened, swollen cheek, I scanned the faces of those present.
Clearly, everyone here knew that Mr. Harrington was planning to propose to Scarlett today.
"Melody, you're acting like a shrew!"
His eyes were cold as ice. Just yesterday, he had been gently discussing our future with me.
Wounded by his gaze, I couldn't bear to stay here a moment longer.
Truth be told, I wasn't planning to accept his proposal at this engagement party today.Because I have cancer, my days are numbered.
I don't want to be a burden to Mr. Harrington.
Behind me, Mr. Harrington's voice rang out.
"Let her go!"
Hearing this, my body trembled violently, and I felt like I was about to suffocate.
I went back to the place where I lived before returning to the Gevano family.
This place is filled with memories of Mr. Harrington and me.
Looking at the photos hanging on the wall, I felt nothing but irony.
He once said that after we got married, he'd fill the entire room with our pictures. Now, in the blink of an eye, he's proposed to someone else.
I lay down on the couch.
Scarlett posted several social media updates in a row.
[Got proposed to today. Mr. Harrington remembered what I wanted and gave me the sense of ceremony I've always dreamed of.]
[The diamond ring is beautiful, it's exactly the style I like.]
[Thank you to the whole family for their blessings.]
Each social media post was accompanied by a joyful picture.I look down and like all of these posts, then toss my phone aside.
Staring at the blank ceiling, I don't understand why things turned out this way.
At some point, Mr. Harrington appears in the room.
There's no interrogation scene like I imagined. I lie on the couch, not even wanting to give him a glance.
But he reaches out and caresses my face.
"I'm sorry... for today."
He's apologizing for slapping me earlier.
Hearing this, my heart stirs. When I look at him again, my eyes are already red.
The emotions I've bottled up all day finally overflow.
I cry as I ask him why he treated me this way.
He clearly knows Scarlett took 20 years of my life, and he used to be so sympathetic towards me.
