Chapter 64: No Redemption

Shigaraki's hand hovered for only a moment before pressing down.

The decaying effect triggered instantly—his fingertips crumbling the skin and muscle of Overhaul's right arm. The villain screamed, his voice raw with pain as Shigaraki's power surged, reducing flesh and bone to ash. The quirk-nullifying cuffs cracked under the decay, but it didn't matter. Blood sprayed against the walls of the transport as Overhaul writhed in agony, veins bulging, teeth bared, desperation replacing rage.

"Stop—!" he cried, his voice cracking.

Shigaraki's expression didn't shift. He leaned closer, his voice cold and steady. "You erased my friend. My family. Did you think I'd let that go?"

The decay surged into Overhaul's left arm. His flesh disintegrated second by second. Shigaraki watched without pity.

Outside, the chaos unfolded with coordinated precision. Dabi's flames formed a perimeter of searing heat, keeping the remaining heroes from reaching the convoy. The ground sizzled beneath his feet as he sent out another blazing arc to cut off a flanking move.

Toga twirled through the smoke like a specter, targeting support gear, communication nodes, and exposed limbs. She hummed as she moved, smiling like it was all a game.

Twice's duplicates overwhelmed the defenders, making it impossible to tell who was friend or foe. Every punch was matched by a mimic. Confusion turned into panic.

Spinner, stationed near the treeline, shouted over the radio. "Target neutralized. Time to fall back."

Back inside the transport, Overhaul was no longer screaming. He was trembling, crumpled forward in his restraints. His arms—both gone. His breath came in ragged gasps.

Shigaraki stood slowly. He looked down at the man who had once terrified the underworld. "Now you understand what it means to lose everything."

He turned and stepped out of the vehicle. Toga skipped to his side, humming. "So mean when you're serious. I love it."

Twice followed, pulling his remaining clones into him one by one. Dabi gave one last sweeping blaze before extinguishing the fire just enough to open a retreat.

Down the road, the heroes finally broke through the smoke. One of them triggered a distress beacon. "We need medical now! The League— they've already pulled out!"

Shigaraki cast one final glance over his shoulder. "You called yourself Overhaul. But you're just a shell now. A tool with no hands."

He vanished into the forest.

Hours later, back at the hospital, Reiji sat on the edge of a couch in a private wing. His elbows were on his knees, and his hands hung limp, stained with gauze and dried blood. Across the room, Midoriya was awake and sitting up slowly, Eri curled beside him, still fast asleep. Aizawa stood silently near the window, reading a fresh update from his phone.

[System Alert: Priority Intelligence Update Received — League of Villains Intercepted Convoy]

Reiji's eyes narrowed. The system window shifted in front of him.

[Status Report: Subject — Overhaul / Quirk: Deconstruction] [Condition: Quirk permanently nullified. Both arms destroyed by League action.]

He took a slow breath.

Midoriya looked up at him. "Did you hear what happened?"

Reiji nodded. "Yeah. I saw it. The League got to him first."

Aizawa's tone was grim. "And they didn't just intercept. They mutilated him."

Midoriya clenched the blanket in his fists. "He hurt so many. Eri. The other kids. But... this still feels... wrong."

Reiji's jaw tightened. "I don't feel sorry for him. Not even a little. He used his Quirk to tear people apart and reassemble them like tools. He erased lives without blinking. Now he's been erased."

[System Remark: Emotional response detected — Resolve stabilizing. Moral threshold consistent.]

Reiji ignored the system's analysis. He looked at Eri—small, peaceful, unaware.

"I won't let anyone hurt her again," he whispered.

Aizawa walked over. "The League of Villains is escalating. They're not just playing games anymore. They're building something. Organizing."

Midoriya looked between them. "So what do we do?"

Reiji stood slowly. "We get ahead of them. Before they strike again."

Suddenly, another pro hero burst through the door.

"We found something. Near the convoy route."

Everyone turned.

"What is it?" Aizawa asked.

The hero held up a tablet, pulling up the image: a scorched tree stump. At its base—a small camera, melted into the earth.

"Surveillance?" Reiji asked.

"Yes. But not from our team. Not from the League either."

The room fell quiet.

[System Notice: Unknown surveillance signal detected. Origin point masked. Tracking interference unresolved.]

Reiji's brows furrowed. "Someone else was watching."

Far from the hospital, in a dim underground laboratory, a lone monitor flickered. Doctor Ujiko hunched over the feed, hands steepled under his chin.

He watched the replay of Shigaraki's destruction.

"So... you've taken your first true step, Tomura."

He smiled faintly.

"Let the world believe they've seen monsters. They haven't seen anything yet."
