Chapter 19 – So This Is My Power
The morning breeze passed gently through the cracks of the improvised cabin, and an intense light illuminated the interior.
Cordelia, lying down, slowly sat up, casting a glance at the light emanating from Adrian's body.
Cordelia: — What a bright light... — she whispered, amazed, watching the silver, pulsing glow that surrounded Adrian like a living aura.
She carefully approached and knelt beside him.
— It's already morning... he should wake up soon. Just a little longer... — she said with a tender smile, observing his peaceful face as he slept.
Cordelia gently backed away and began organizing the space to prepare breakfast. Suddenly, the metallic sound of armor clashing echoed in the distance.
She froze, her sharpened senses detecting danger.
Looking through the window — her eyes widened.
On the horizon, several grotesque figures approached — monster-knights in twisted armor with glowing eyes, riding distorted beasts.
Cordelia (alert): — Damn... the noise from yesterday's battle must've drawn them here.
She narrowed her eyes, quickly assessing the situation.
— Right now, when Adrian is awakening his inheritance!
She glanced back at Adrian, still engulfed in radiant light, immersed in the awakening process.
— If he's interrupted now, he could lose the chance to awaken... and he was our only power stone!
She took a deep breath and clenched her fists.
— How many monsters...? Around thirty... damn.
— My energy hasn't fully recovered yet...
Her eyes gleamed with resolve.
— The only option is to hold them off until Adrian finishes waking up and comes to help me...
She stepped out of the cabin and into the open field, facing the horde.
— Alright, then! Divine Possession... ACTIVATE!
Wings of light burst from her back, resplendent, and her aura ignited with celestial power. The ground trembled beneath her feet as energy surged forth.
— Take this, you idiotic monsters! Divine Lamb Kick!
Like a holy lightning bolt, Cordelia shot forward, leaving behind a trail of fire. She spun midair with furious elegance, channeling energy into her legs, and descended with a blazing kick. The impact was deafening — an explosion of golden light swept through ten monsters at once, their bodies hurled away like shattered puppets.
She skidded back on the ground, panting.
— Damn... if only my energy had recovered, I could've taken out half of them...
She cast another glance at the cabin.
— Adrian, hurry up and wake... I need you here...
Inside, Adrian began to stir. The light around him pulsed, vibrating like a heartbeat.
Adrian (groggy): — What kind of dream was that...? I think it was my father's divine spirit...
He opened his eyes slowly, feeling his body light yet brimming with unfamiliar power.
He closed his fist, and tiny sparks danced between his fingers.
— So much energy... — he whispered.
— With this power, I'm one step closer to my inheritance...
He closed his eyes briefly, as if connecting with something greater.
— Thank you for the strength, father.
BOOMMM!
A violent explosion shook the ground, making the cabin tremble.
Adrian (alarmed): — What was that?!
He ran to the window, pushed open the boards, and saw Cordelia fighting, surrounded by dozens of grotesque monsters.
— They must've come because of last night's noise...
But then he noticed: Cordelia was out of breath, her clothes torn, her aura flickering.
— Why hasn't she finished them off yet...?
His eyes narrowed.
— Damn... she hasn't recovered from the previous battle...
Without hesitation, he leapt through the window straight into the battlefield, landing with force.
Cordelia (nearly breathless): — My energy is almost gone...
She staggered after another strike.
— If Adrian doesn't show up soon, I'm in trouble...
BOOMMMMM!
A powerful sound tore through the air.
Adrian (shouting from afar): — Sorry for the delay, Cordelia!
She turned, surprised, eyes wide as she saw him.
Cordelia: — Adrian... you did it!
He landed beside her, the ground cracking beneath his feet.
Adrian: — Yes. Now you can rest. I'll handle this.
Cordelia (smiling): — Then I'm counting on you.
She stepped back, trusting him completely.
Adrian (facing the monsters): — Now it's just between us, monsters...
Clenching his fist, he channeled his newfound energy.
— Take this! Sonic Punch!
He launched like a shining missile, tearing through the air with a boom. His punch's impact made the monsters explode from within, as if a storm had erupted inside them.
— Five down... ten...
He spun in the air, his body glowing.
— Sonic Kick!
His foot shone like a divine blade. The kick came down with seismic force, smashing enemies in a blast of blue energy.
Finally, he leapt high, energy spiraling around his body like a silver hurricane.
— Sonic Earthquake!
He drove his fist into the ground with full force. A brutal seismic wave spread in all directions, the earth splitting, opening a massive crater that swallowed the remaining monsters.
Silence.
Dust rose, slow and heavy. The battlefield fell quiet.
Adrian (panting): — It's over... — he said, standing tall.
Cordelia walked up to him with a soft smile.
Cordelia: — Adrian... can I ask you something?
Adrian: — Of course.
Cordelia: — What's the name of the divine spirit that gave you this power?
Adrian looked to the sky, as if invoking a sacred memory.
Adrian: — His name... is Samson.
