There was a deathly stillness in the air. It was too stale to be considered fresh. The very atmosphere itself had aged. I didn't think it was possible for a non-living object to age like this but here we are. There have already been many theories within our little band of survivors as to what caused this apocalypse. The christians said it was God, the scientists claimed an evolution of sorts, the basement dwellers said it was some government ploy but who the fuck knows. For all I care it could be one of the people in this group and we'd be none the wiser.
There were some organizational developments recently. A bunch of people gathered together and decided that we should hold an election to determine who leads us. It's a fair idea honestly, instead of having someone declare themselves a leader and become a tyrant, at least this way if they do still become a tyrant we have no one to blame but ourselves for voting them in. there were already a few people doing some campaigning of sorts. Going around and preaching how good of a leader they'd be, what sorts of things they'd do to improve life in this shithole. Every single one of them sounded too fantastical. They preached so much about reducing workloads, as much as it sounded nice it didn't sound practical at all. Ideas like no work on Sunday's, women work less and anyone below fifteen not at all. Truthfully that sounds nice but it still sounds fishy.
There was one guy who caught my eye however. He'd come up to some others and I earlier today and the way he talked was quite something. He talked very plainly, almost jokingly about what he'd do if he got elected. But I knew he was serious. The work he suggested sounded extremely laborious, but that's what we'd need now more than ever. If he does end up running then without a doubt he has my vote.
